Is this a decent compressor?

If you are going to get close to the 2k mark on the acquisition I recommend buying a good serviced used BAUER from one of the numerous dive shops in Florida. In the long run they are the best deal for the amount of air you can get for the $. I know as I did the "stair step" acquisition method. I spent more than 6k total before I finally got the BAUER. It is a UTILUS and I am very happy with it. Just wish I had started with it instead of finished at it. Could have save several $k

The Hiill EC-3000 is a different class of compressor. It is a direct fill to PCP compressor whereas the Air Venturi is designed to fill carbon fiber tanks. The Hill is too new on the market to know whether or not it is a durable design. It is made by Hill in England which makes it seem worthy of consideration but it has an unestablished track record. I'd recommend an Alpha Carette instead of the Air Venturi if you're looking to spend under $2K. IMO, the most overpriced, difficult to rebuild, worst bang for your buck compressor that you could buy new is any of the Omega compressors. They are relatively slow filling for their price point, and they use rubber o-rings to seal which are a PITA to reach when the inevitable rebuild is required. If you can't rebuild one, it is an expensive item to ship for service to the sole U.S. repair center.

I’m going to suggest if you are going inexpensive the Yong Heng is the way to go. If you can afford first class the Alkin is I think the best bet. Used Bauer is certainly worth considering based on price and service. My fear on the Bauer is like buying anything used the devil is in the details. It’s been said on the forum that some of the Bauer models can be some what problematic and expensive to service. I’m using a combination of N2 and a daystate 110. If at some time I need to change the Alkin is at the top of my list TODAY that of course could change in time.
The mid priced stuff is not holding up or so it seems Daystate and air Venturi and omega. Spend the extra money and buy the Alkin or spent A LOT less and buy the Yong Heng . I’m not particularly interested in dealing with water cooling and potential repairs and replacements or the need for extra filters with the Yong Heng but lots of people seem completely happy with them.
