I think it's a third fox, the third one that came rushing in looked to be about the same size and if you review it a couple of times the tail looks very foxy also.
3 Fox at least. 2 are clearly seen. The 3rd sits above them the entire time as shown by its eyes reflecting the camera light. That's the one that chases what I think is a rabbit.
Not 100% sure though as my high speed scrubbing isn't perfect & it's dark.
Looks like the wind was coming down the hill when the snow was in the air. One more reason to call it a fox. Coyote wouldn’t have came in that way or got that close if he did. Im no expert but the mistakes I make every outing have taught me that much.
I think it is another fox. The general feeling around where I live in central Iowa is that fox won’t usually hang around an area with coyote too close, the coyotes run them off.
Yep, 3 foxes. The one in the upper right corner is a fox because you can tell from its eyes. They are really close together. At night when lit up by a light they will look almost like a house cat cause their eyes are so close together. And a coyote would be spaced farther apart.
Definitely all fox, can tell by the eye and ear placement, and how it is postured.
But, rule of thumb is that fox and coyotes do not mix! One male coyote will run off every fox around it during the winter and spring. Late summer into fall they'll co-exist, when there is a lot of food and cover.
