Is there such a thing as a budget Low Power Variable Optic scope?

Possible Bushnell at SWFA but it may be 300 plus. I have less than full confidence in sub 200 buck scopes. Once you get used to 4-5 hundred dollar scopes, it’s tough going back. Better glass and more consistent tracking. But there are a few. Check joe Rhea’s YouTube vids for best 200 scopes.

Totally understand your thinking, but for what it’s going on, it’s tough to justify spending double on a scope to what you spent on the gun. Lol

Odoyle has recommended the Alpha 6 1-6x24 in the past. Often available on Ebay for less than $200. Fixed parallax but I believe he said they would be easy to adjust to a closer range.

I bought two of the Styrka 1-6x24 scopes during an Amazon sale last fall for $200. Side focus down to 9 yards at full power and a good enough eye box for quick target acquisition.

Unfortunately a discontinued product that seems to be priced higher than $200 now. Also only a duplex reticle and capped turrets.

If you don't mind a duplex reticle it's worth putting one on your Amazon watch list and seeing if the remaining stock drops in price again.

Now that I have some time shooting mine I do agree with the notion that parallax error is reduced with smaller objective scopes and I do believe I could live with fixed parallax if it were adjusted to a closer range than 100 yards/meters. At least for a hunting/pesting rifle. For shooting indoors I would really want to be able to focus closer since I'm limited to 15 yards at my new house.

I also have a Konus 2-6x28 that I got for around $160. Not sure if it meets the LPVO criteria but it has a nice FOV at 2x and a great eye box and long eye relief. Unfortunately fixed parallax and not great glass means I don't use it. I have inner ear issues that leave me with occasionally blurry vision and I find looking through it fatiguing. The objective retention ring is glued in place so hard to adjust the fixed parallax. I don't have much in the scope so I may try it anyways.

I second the Hawke 2x7x32. I think it is the best money can buy for the $100-150 you will pay.

I have or had the full sized Alpha 6 2.5x15x50 and the compact Vector Veyron and Discovery 3x12x44 scopes all for $140 to $200 and they are very good for the money also. Although the Alph6 and Veyron are a bit thin on their reticles as far as I am concerned. It really does not affect me much as they focus down to 10 yards on higher powers anyway. My Alpha 6 had defects so I sent it back.

I third the Hawke 2-7x32 AO. It's got a full sized scope footprint, instead of the straight tube ocular of the true 1-X magnification optics. But the glass is clear and bright, the reticle is plenty thin, and it's fairly lightweight at under 18 oz, IIRC. I've had mine for five or six years now, it's been on a ton of guns and has never skipped a beat.

I second the alpha 6 1-6. Down side is the big middle dot reticle that makes it hard to be precise but more than plenty for squirrels. Glass is great with excellent clarity with generous eye box, the image resolution is very good but there is very slight yellow tint to it unlike the other alpha 6 siblings. For the money it’s hard to beat, I just bought and returning the swampfox arrowhead and side by side I like the alpha 6 better even with the swampfox being 1-10. Don’t think anything under 200 dollars can touch the alpha 6.

I went ahead and ordered a couple from BudK. Hopefully with the listed long eye relief I can finally have my ideal Classic Leshiy backpack scope.

That would a sweet setup, it worked well on my PP700 but obviously a bit big and made it top heavy. Let us know how it goes but I think it would be a great fit.

Just got them in. First one I unpacked had a dead battery. Had to open second to confirm.

Initial impressions are that it's a good scope for the money but probably not my ideal Classic Leshiy backpack scope.

I only rested one on bottom half of rings & while it appears to have slightly more eye relief than my Styrka it's nowhere enough to mount it even with the hinge point on a Leshiy for me.

Glass & eye box are good but a step below my Styrka.

Unlike my Stryka the reticle & turrets appear to at least have some use in a hunting situation.

Reticle looks very fuzzy when illuminated. Adjusting the diopter changes it but doesn't really make it better. I might wait until tonight & try to adjust diopter in the dark.

You probably will have to use a reversed offset mount to get your desired eye relief. I’ll check mine again but I remember the Illuminated reticle is very nice and crisp.

Edit: took a look at my alpha 6 and the reticle does have a slight haze depending on the eye piece adjustment and where the eye is but not something I noticed until I looked for it. With both eyes open I don’t notice it at all. Also the eye relief is more generous than I though especially at 1x.
