Is there a special 1/4" to 1/8" whip fitting for my Benjamin hand pump?

Cracked the original part. Got a replacement at ACE Hardware plumbing section. The male end of the whip is not tapered and screws all the way into the new fitting. Tried Teflon tape, locktite, and a o-ring, none worked. Do I need a special fitting?

Yes you do .... Brass plumbing fitting ARE NOT FOR HIGH PRESSURE as we use in PCP air guns. There rating is very likely 300 psi or less !!!
