Is there a pellet shortage?

Don't mean to start a run on the pellet market but here is what I found on the The Pellet Shop site https://www.thepelletshop.com/ .This is what they have in inventory for all calibers, or rather what they do not have.

177 caliber 1 of 6 varieties is out of stock

22 caliber 5 of 10 "

25 caliber 5 of 7 "

30 caliber 5 of 6 "

35 caliber 2 of 2 "

72 caliber 1 of 1 "

I bought or rather I paid for some 25 caliber yesterday but yet to receive a confirmation of my order.

No shortage here ( .177 only ) , slowly expanding on the collection and i buy 2 tins for every one i empty ( at least )

Some models i do have to search a little for, or maybe not get from the very cheapest seller, but generally i can get what i want

I hope US people will keep disregarding zan as they are overseas, that leave more for me, and i am very much on edge about their pending .177 slugs.

I have about 10 sites / stores i visit daily.

not really, but raw materials and fuel are through the roof, and theres still a labor shortage in the entire supply chain that wont get better because a) lazy pos' dont want to work and b) companies are pinched everywhere else by inflation so hiring is last on the list .. so .. shortage to 'us' on things i think yes, and it will only get worse and more expensive, likely presently and ongoing into the foreseable future

I recently bought 15 cans of FX 34gr/25 cal from Utah Airguns. I had to order 5 cans at a time, then spaced my reorder 2 to 3 days apart. These are the worst batch of pellets I have seen in my 20+ years of air gunning. Damaged skirts on 75% of them. They did not look like they had been damaged in shipping either. UA packs them extremely well. None of the cans were damaged. It looks like JSB filled these cans with their rejects. UA has very reasonable shipping rates and there is no tax either ( shipped to Texas).

A while back I ordered some from FX pellets from Northeast Airguns and they looked and shoot great. One a tin was slightly dented but the pellets were fine. Maybe see if they have some back in stock.

Jeffs,

My 5 tin order total cost number is correct, I've not calculated a 10 tin order and therefore can't confirm, nor contest, your numbers. My neighbor sold me a 2018 Benjamin Trail NP in early 2020. He'd struggled to find a preferred pellet and included many extra brands and styles with purchase. I tried some, however, a few had oxidized too much to use, so, at least, in this case, pellets went bad. WM

Jeffs,

No, you didn't mess up, just shoot lots and keep pellets lubricated. Do AGN search on pellet lubes and techniques so you'll be ready should any signs of trouble appear. I don't normally lube pellets but if I notice any problems, I'm ready and able to do so. Also, if you're entrepreneur-minded, could try to sell on Classifieds, eBay or another venue. I've no experience along those lines so others would have to chime in. Best of Luck, WM

I bought some tins of JSB.22 25.39gr. From a dealer and one of the tins looked like it was filled with floor scraps. Over 75% were crushed and the pellets had alot of trash and dirt with them. I was chastised by a few AGN members on the exceptional care and sorting that goes on at JSB and that somehow I was mistaken or it was a fluke the couldn't have possibly happened. Well I still have that tin of pellets I'm holding on to, and it's at least nice to hear that I wasn't the only one.....

There are all sorts of things to factor in. I personally think that more people are buying what they can, when they can. I dont blame them. I just ordered some .30s from PA There was a limit on amount, and I totally understand why. All was back ordered. Years back when I worked retail I seen this happen with firearm ammo. We got the ammo in, in the usual amounts and even more so at times. People would line up to buy what they could. On top of that they would have family members and friends in the line behind them also buying for them. It would take little effort to do similar when ordering online. Sure there are issues with the supply chain and most defiantly lazy people who dont want to work (see that all the time now days). I just think that people are panic buying and not giving suppliers a chance to regain the inventory they would normally have. I know that when I do buy I get enough to get that free shipping and usually its a variety of calibers. I personally have no need to add to what I have and normally would of not bothered but I just got that .30 so I needed some ammo for it. I do have a fair amount on hand of everything else. Not hoarder amounts like im sure some have. I remember when I used to hear people bragging about having a whole pallet of .22 rimfire ammo when it was scarce. Guess what. They were in line buying more. I would not be shocked if the same thing goes on with pellets. Not one bit at all. Lets not forget that there are those who will spend thousands on one order of pellets given that there is no limit. I have seen some brag about it here as well as another airgun forum in the past.
