is the Bug Buster still such a great VALUE ?

I'm looking for another scope to resurrect my retired P-Rod. I scavenged the old scope from it to use on my Ruger 10/22. It was an inexpensive Leapers 3-12X44 SWAT that I liked a lot.

This time around, I'm considering the Bug Buster. I have one on my Benji 392, and I like it alot. Very clear image, and works really well for plinking up to around 30 yards. In my opinion, it's one of the very best scopes for the money.

My question: Are there any other budget scopes that have come out recently that can contend with the Bug Buster ? Anything new that I haven't heard of yet?

Thanks !

I have two (also own UTG, Leupold, Bushnell, Hawke, Burris and Tasco scopes). Restrictive field of view, the optics are obviously not top quality and some would argue that 9x is not high enough. However it is compact and lightweight (does anyone know of a lighter variable). Finally, Leapers is a great company. Lost the cap off the illumination turret of one of my Bug Busters. Sent the company an email asking how much it would cost to buy a replacement and how to place an order. A week later a replacement turret cover shows up in my mailbox. With that kind of customer service mindset, you can't go wrong.

For the weight and the optical quality the BB is a great value. You got Burris, Leopold, and Nikon with some very good optics. They are all heavier, Nikon, and Burris weighing in at around 15 oz, and the Nikon rimfire 3x9 EFR is double the price. The Leopold 2X7 is almost the same weight as the BB, better than 4 X's the cost. None of them have a mildot like the BB.
