Is RTI a bad thing / company / gun around here ?

I missed the sharp edges period as well although as a metal worker I might have blown it off having less-than-soft hands ;)

As far as shooting slugs from a PELLET RIFLE it's like going to a great restaurant, having the best meal of your life, and giving them One Star because the parking was difficult.

I’m not giving the rifle bad marks. I just got it in a trade, and I’m hoping it will shoot slugs. My use for a .30 is long distance pesting, so if it works for that, great. If not, I’ll be moving on to something different. No bad blood.

Understood and we are all just chatting.

True, Every company that makes anything will have issues. I have both the RTI and the Impact. Both have issues. I would recommend getting the one that you like the most and just dealing with it. You will end up liking what ever you use the most. All I can say is just because it cost more does not make it better. I have a Hatsan Flash pup that rock and it is the cheapest air gun that I have.

I have an Rti prophet performance in .22. I find it very accurate with the jsb monster redesign pellets. Pellet on pellet at 50mts. and I really like the rifle and use it for pest control and occasional target shooting. Here in the UK, I have mine on an FAC so mine runs about 48ftlbs. I've had it about 9 mths and have had no trouble at all with it. Its fitted with a webley qs8 moderator/silencer and is virtually silent in the field., the only issue I have is the hammer noise as you fire, but this is the same for most bullpup rifles as the hammer is right next to your ear whilst shooting.

Could you give more info on the moderator?

Hi dens228,

the moderator is made by webley here in the uk, its a QGS8 model, its designed for 22lr and 17hmr rimfire rifles, also can be used on air rifles with no problem.

It is all metal construction and has four internal baffles and a section of heat resistant felt, secured by a metal mesh. it disassembles very easily for cleaning and maintenance, both end caps are removable to allow this. it is threaded in 1/2" unf so fits nearly all rifles. it is 200mm long, very light weight and whisper quiet in the field. it is finished in matt black so no reflections to spook your quarry. My prophet is FAC power here in the uk so its pushing jsb monster redesign pellets at 1000fps, as you can imagine that is a fairly loud crack at the muzzle, this mod quietens that down to almost inaudible, even stood next to the shooter.

I love my .22 Prophet performance. Had to do a few things to get it to suit my shooting style. No real after market support like FX though. POI stay constant. Shot count is about 40. It's the gun I take for pigeons (far as 80 yards so far) and rats every time. The unregulated Wolverine .22 is the chipmunk gun. 35 yards or under. The K1 is just to play. The Dina springers are to bring back memories. Have had an Impact on order for 4 months now and I'm really considering canceling it. I just don't think that, for me, its worth it.

Mikehunt, is that ball bearing cocking lever greasing thing involved or straight forward? Any chance you could shed a little more light on it. Thanks.

John

What's your reg set at to get only 40 shots?

dens228 150 reg pressure. 975 fps. 25.4 fx pellets.

How high are you filling the bottle?

I fill mine to about 280 bar, reg is set at 140.

I'm shooting 21 grain Baracuda Hunters at 1028 fps and get about 100 shots per fill .

I'm pretty new to all this and am just curious about a fairly large difference.

I think I'll go out today and see how exactly how many shots it takes to get from 280 to 150.

dens228, I'm filling to 300 bar. Before I push it and see just how many shots I can get I have 2 questions. First is does the hammer spring adjustment affect shot count? Second is what kind of damage can be done (if any) to the rifle if I shoot below 150 on the reg? The gun came set up this way from Talon Tunes. However, I did remove the hammer spring to put a new butt pad on. Counted the revolutions and put it back how it came out. Just starting to learn about dialing these things in so any info is appreciated. Thanks

Yes, hammer spring will affect shot count. Mine is set with the screw 1 1/2 turns in from flush with the butt of the rifle.

Also, below 150 will not harm your rifle at all. Here's an excellent video by Gregor that I followed in tuning mine.
