Is My Regulator Working?

I have a BSA R10 that I have not shot in about 5 months. I shot it today and this is the string I got. It has a Huma regulator installed. I refilled and shot strings two more times. I was hoping something would wake up, but all three strings were pretty much the same. Any ideas?

"BigTinBoat"
"BeachGunner"Glad you worked it out.
It brings the question to mind, what is an acceptable ES/SD for a regulated rifle? When do you raise the red flag?
In my book anything above 2% (while on the reg) is not acceptable.
(Edit - meaning ES)
Okay thanks. So, in the OP's case it is way out of sorts then. Looking forward to the day when I actually get a regulated PCP.

Since I've had a few new FX's lately, I see that having a reg do single digit ES is possible. My Unicorn (177 Wildcat) has had ES of 8-9 unless it is really cold.

Nrary, what do you think you did to fix it? Did you rebuild it with new o-rings or ??? Just wondering. Anytime there is a problem and it is solved, I'd like to hear what solved it. So, what do you think it was?

"sirk"thats a total regulator failure, it lets all the bottle pressure through. thats why you have an unregulated gun. probably you tried to adjust the output too high so its inlet valve never shut.
DO you ever read posts before replying? If he had "total regulator failure", how did just removing "cleaning" and re-installing fix kit?

Likely just dirt in the seal.

By the way the regulator is not what provides small SD,
it is to supply relatively stable and reduced pressure to the valve. The shot to shot variation (SD) of speed has more to do with the knock open valve and hammer and other bitts of more advance pcps etc.

it is a total regulation failure when the gun acts like if it had no regulator in it. You cant disagree with that my friend. When it does not regulate, not even erratic, totally failed. thats what i can see from the shotstring.

i would not say he fed it with dirty air, that would automatically void his warranty

Was the original regulator that bad it needed replacing? I heard the mark 2s are better no?

"scrane"
"LDP"Regulator creep?
I believe regulator creep will just give you a slow speed on the first shot.
If the regulator is allowing more pressure to the valve I would say its creeping up. If he had his hammer energy tuned on the light side well below the knee of his reg setting then a creeping reg would cause low shots until the pressure dropped. Creep might not be the correct term and I was referring to a reg that was not holding the reg setting but instead stopping at a higher point or more simply stated creeping above the set point.

I have made no adjustments to the gun. Last summer I replaced the o-rings in the regulator. The gun was shooting great afterwards. The gun has been in the safe for several months when I shot that string. All I did was remove the regulator, take it apart, and wipe it down. After I put it back together I did those 5 shots. Still need to do a full string when the weather cooperates. I get my air from the local dive shop. I have no idea what fixed it.
