some good comments some ridiculous ones . I would suggest to hold on to your gun or guns for a while anyway .
As a solution i might suggest a single pump pistol like IZH 46 extremely quiet indoor friendly .177 pistol . and shoot indoors If that is possible.
get on the UK air gun forums , lot of very nice people on these , many willing to help out (as in a ride to ranges ) shooting with them as a guest ?
Lastly , an hour on public trans is not so bad . get a guitar case that can fit your gun so as not to raise questions .
Relax take it slow , things will work out just may take a bit of time .
