Maybe a stupid question, and I assume the answer is probably no. I'm curious, would jacketed slugs meant for PBs work well in our PCP airguns? Is it even safe to the barrel or could the harder jacket damage the rifling?

The jacket is usually a soft metal like copper which is much softer than steel. So I don’t think it could do any damage in powder burners I have had to use cleaning solution that remover copper buildups I just don’t know if air rifles would be different.

My guess is that they wouldn't conform to the rifling as well as a soft lead pellet and you'd risk getting one jammed in the barrel. It takes a ton of pressure in a PB to push a copper jacketed bullet.

I know guys who are shooting cast bullets with copper gas checks through Texans. Dan of XP-Airguns told me when I ask about jacketed bullets that it is not a recommended practice with their guns including the Badger! I had ask since they use Chrome-Moly barrels just like PB's!

With a Sabot I see no issues other than a potential lack of accuracy but it may worth a try as an undisturbed(no rifling marks or deformation) can lead to an excelent bc.

I don’t know with an airgun but trying to shoot pb guns subsonic with copper jacket bullets creates very unpredictable velocities due to the friction from the harder material. Lead or copper plated work much better. It would be interesting to try but I doubt it would work very well
