Is 700mm more accurate than 600mm?

I have a 600mm impact mk2. When I bought the gun I went with 600mm oved the 700mm cause its shorter so it can be easier to manage in the woods hunting. But from reading the forums and watching YouTube videos, everyone is shooting a 700mm. o_O. is 700mm more accurate or what? I know its a bit more powerful cause longer length, but is it more accurate? Why is 90% of impact owners shooting 700mm? Very few I see are even shooting the 600mm. I get about 1in to 1 1/2 in at 100 yards. From watching these videos I seen people like Ted, Matt, South Africa boys, they shooting 700mm and getting like .5 in at 100 plus yards and smacking sparrow at 200 to 300 yards. o_O maybe its time I spend $500 and get a 700mm barrel kit or stick with my 600mm and save that $500??

1 inch groups at 100 yards is nothing to sneeze at. I think the main problem trying to compare yourself to others is a big mistake. If you are using the same tune as them and all parameters are equal, it is still up to you the shooter. I'm not saying you are a bad shooter. But I will say not everything is the same as far as conditions, pellet or slug weight, accessories, etc. Someone could give me Tiger Woods' clubs and I will never be able to play like him. Get your skills up. Put in the time shooting on the bench, freehand, etc. You will get better. But don't worry about the others. Remember, those 1 inch groups you are getting, someone else would love to get those.

Keith.

Ok so what I gather so far is they are both equally accurate? Doesnt explained why majority of impact of are going 700mm. Guessing more power? But from what I heard is the gain is like 30-40 fps. Guess that is enough to pay the higher price tag and have a longer barrel? Would love to see a comparison from a 600mm vs 700mm with the same liner type and tune and just swapping out the barrel to see which is more accurate at longer distance.

I'd take their videos with a huge grain of salt. They are deeply connected to manufacturer and has taken a deep role in promoting their guns. They hardly do group over 5 shots, and who knows how many tries they had for the editing? In my opinion any gun can shoot out a fabulous montage if you poring enough effort into it.

Those are just marketing videos. You know how they leave out what you really want to know. The 700mm will give you a little more power for the longer ranges. It could also have more harmonic issues over the 600mm. There is no difference in accuracy other than maybe the difference in travel time to the target, which could give more accuracy the eye may not be able to discern at shorter ranges. I have both and can't tell a difference in accuracy, only power by a small margin having four inches more to develop more pressure before Elvis leaves the building.

Pistonjohn and triggertreat sorry but I would have to disagree with both of you as I have shot many .5 inch groups at 100 yards with my 700mm .25 Impact. But I only shoot 3 shot groups as the wind changes so often as to make it difficult to do 5 or ten shot groups. Still I can do multiple three shot groups and that werqs for me. It took me at least 500 slugs to tune the gun so it would shoot this way.

Just because one is unable to duplicate their results does not mean that they did not honestly do the deed. I would have to say that many, if not most, of the YouTubers are open and honest with their findings as they have a reputation to uphold.

Scroll down to see the targets I shot with several different slugs and pellets.

And targets for the .22 at 50 yards while tuning. Last 4 groups show I got there. There was a bit of wind this day. The black circle in the targets are 1.125 inch in diameter.

Believe it or not, I'm shooting maverick compact 25. 34g NSA <800 fps hitting pellet tin @ 110yds! So you can use a 10ft barrel but what's your "aim"?

My impact 25/700 @ 934 will lay them on top of each other@125. If you're shooting target , keep tightening the tune. If you're hunting, either of the guns are accurate enough to shoot the 100 with confidence. Just like asked, what's your "aim"?

I have the MKII .25 with a 600mm barrel & it shoots better than I can. I bought the 600mm for the same reason you did. I believe most get the 700mm barrel because the Impact is a gun that will still be relatively compact with that long barrel. Put a 700mm barrel on a Crown & it can be awkward unless only shooting from a bench. In my opinion 1" groups at 100 yards is really good. If you had perfect shooting conditions, the perfect tune with the perfect ammo, you might be able to get one of those .5" groups once in awhile too. I recently shot a single slug sized hole using NSA .2175 slugs in my .22 Crown 500mm at 30 yards. I haven't done it since. I've shot a few .33" CTC at that 30 yard range but not that single slug sized hole. Those 1 to 1-1/2 inch groups at 100 still give you room for improvement. If you were getting consistant .5" groups at 100 yards, you'd just be increasing the range you're shooting at. Save your $500 and don't try to compete with the Pro's with an equipment change. Spend the money finding the perfect pellet, tune & practice, practice, practice. In my opinion, 600mm to 700mm won't make a difference. Seeking perfection is one of those things that keeps us shooting.

I would probably just go with the compact 500mm barrel. I agree the 700mm barrel is way too long. I almost bought a silver impact from the classifieds on here and they never stated the barrel length and I only found out asking questions about the gun. I opted out when I found out it was the 700. I don't understand people hiding info on a sales ad. Kinda fishy to me.
