This is the Iowa Field Target Association monthly report for August 2025.
The next airgun fun day with the Iowa Filed Target Association will be held Sunday September 28, 2025 starting at 10:00 am public hours and field target competition starts at 1:00pm at the West Liberty Gun Club.
The Facebook group now has 50 members.
Thank you, to all the people that are making this happen.
A lot has happened at the airgun range this month. .
The field target lanes have been expanded to five lanes. And there are fifteen reactive targets permanently set up in the five lanes. Shoot each target twice one shot through the kill zone and one for the reset. Two loop makes a 60 shot competition. This is permanently set up for anyone to use when the range is open or during public hours. The idea is you can practice without any distraction. You don’t need anyone just show up and shoot.
To practice field target there are score sheets in the Range Officer shed. Take a couple score sheets and save one to make copies so you can use them with the Range Office shed is closed. There is also a bucket at the sight in range bench to use as a seat if you don’t have your own. Bring your own shooting bipod and have fun.
In addition there is now a 75 yards benchrest lane and sight in lane West of the field target course. This is also the sight in range for doing work with sights and scopes and pellet gun testing.
There are a number of spinners and yard marker posts. Feel free to shoot the wood posts for sight in if you want. The target spinners are yellow and black. There is paint under the bench to touch up the targets.
The weather is still hot. Sun screen / bug spray and you dfinitely need a hat. And light weight long pants and shirt keeps the flys away. I go to the range at 8:00 am and shoot for an hour or so every Saturday and Sunday if anyone wants to join me.
The airgun range is open to the public and club members. The sight in range is set with permanent markers and you can move your own targets in that area.
Eye and ear protection are required at all times and a hat is strongly recommended at the range. Mosquitoes are pretty thick back in the wooded section so bring some spray.
If you live in the West Liberty Iowa area. And you want to shoot airguns or Airgun Field Target or bench rest. . Please consider joining the West Liberty Gun Club.
If you join the West Liberty Gun club you can use the Airgun range, 6 pistol bays, 100 yard range and trap corse anytime the range is open. Unless there is a competition.
Public hours are Saturday and Sunday 1-5 pm.
CHECK THE SCHEDULE!
Public access is sometimes suspended during large competition events.
Report to the range officer building before going to the range. Score cards are available there.
Club members can shoot from 8am - dusk seven days a week. I am at the range Saturday and Sunday mornings.
If you are interested in getting together for Saturday or Sunday morning shooting matches . PM me or Email.
