I have a Nomad 2 and was thinking of getting an inverter to use the compressor in the back of the SUV instead of opening the hood and using the battery terminal clamps. Anyone go this route and if so, what did you use for an inverter.

Doesn't an inverter convert DC to AC? Doesn't the Nomad need a transformer to run on AC? Doesn't that mean that you would need to transform that AC back to DC before you could run it? Have you really thought it over?

It you are just wanting to run the compressor in the back of your SUV for convenience and work area. Run a couple of wires to the back of your SUV like a trolling motor setup on a boat. Make sure copper wires are sized correctly for amp load and fused. Simple. MM

I believe the Nomad 2 runs on 12 volt DC and the converter changes the 110 and the 220 is converted to 12 volts DC

The Nomad 2 can either be plugged into a 120 wall receptacle or run off a 12 volt battery. I would sooner use it in the back of the vehicle plugged into an inverter instead of perched on the rad or a small table I would have to bring along.

since you'd have to run 12 volt lines back to the inverter from the battery anyway ......the inverter itself is a unnecessary cost since the nomad will work on that 12 volt supply .
