N/A Introductions

Hello everyone! I've been reading a bit on the forum, mostly regarding the Notos as that is what I was researching and finally settled on purchasing about a month ago.
I've got an old 1980s Daisy 880 from my youth that had been my primary tree rat and garden pest annihilator until I started having problems with it holding air. I replaced a few seals in it and it does better, but I wanted to try something different. At first I did not want to get into the PCP world because of the added cost of the airgun itself and requiring a pump, but in the end decided that this would likely last me many years and provide some entertainment as well.

I am seriously impressed with the power of the Notos as compared to my old 880. I'm looking at the tuning guides and will be purchasing some aftermarket magazines and looking at ways to make it a little quieter. It is only slightly louder than my 880.

Anyway, just wanted to say hello and looking forward to learning about my new airgun.

Thanks!

Rob

Welcome.... and enjoy. You'll end up justifying a tank when you tire of pumping... and that justification will make your brain say 'I have a tank now... I may as well get another PCP'... and so you will. Some time later, you'll have several PCP's and you'll want a way to fill your tank on your own. So you'll get a compressor. Then your brain will say 'The hard part and the expense is largely over now since I have self sufficient air... I may as well get more PCP's' ...and so you will. It's a sickness, but at least there is no runny nose and you keep your sense of smell!

Thanks all! That logic sounds about right @Rob_in_NC ! LOL
Yes, sir... but the good thing is you're starting out with a nice little shooter. Many of us, myself included may have multiple high end PCP's, but still picked up a Notos. I enjoy mine. Also good that you found this place. Knowledgeable and mostly friendly bunch of folks here except that Rob guy.

I'm just amazed you kept an 880 from the 80's working. I must have destroyed a dozen of them as a kid around that same time by loading multiple BB's in them to shoot like a shotgun, making darts from bamboo skewers with cotton and stuffing down the barrel to shoot... and even pouring sand down the barrel to shoot at flies (long before the Bug A Salt ever came to be).
Fortunately, I try to keep my present day tinkering to things not likely to destroy my guns.

Sounds like you were more adventurous than me!

I guess my parents just instilled in me to take care of my things. I've even sold some of my toys from my childhood on eBay over the years for some good money. I don't really collect things, so I didn't want to hold onto all these toys I had from childhood and my daughters didn't have any interest in them while they were growing up.

I think the compressor will come before the tank. Then because it is so easy to fill the guns that maybe I need to try different calibers.
"OH, look at that link to that site with all the upgrades"

You're correct.... when I was starting out, there were few to zero options for small compressors that filled a gun and most were for tanks. That has changed and so the order will change.
