FX Introduction and questions regarding FX impact tuning and power upgrades

First, hello ….. I am returning to the hobby after many years and have purchased an FX Impact mk1 rifle.

My first question is regarding power tuning and upgrades - is this something that I can openly discuss and get advice on here? As these subjects are not allowed on UK forums…..

If so, here are my questions:

My rifle is a sub 12 ft lb version - I have purchased a power plenum 72cc upgrade kit. Are there any other recommended upgrades I should be looking at alongside this? What sort of increase in performance can I expect with this installed?

Welcome back to the hobby and welcome to AGN. I dont think you need to upgrade anything considering it is a sub 12 version as most of the upgrades are to increase power. All 3 of my Impacts here in the USA are full power so dont have first hand experience with the sub 12's but I am sure someone will chime in that does have experience with them. Enjoy the hobby!!

First off obviously you need to follow your local regulations and laws. Most of us are in the US and we dont have any of the common restrictions on fpe, and are not well versed in foreign laws.

But to answer your question about the plenum, you likely wont see any fps/fpe gain with a stock sub 12 hammer/valve systems. You will notice an improvement in es/sd numbers and shot count.

Don't install the 72cc upgrade kit that is for .25 and larger slug calibers that need high power. You will not be able to tune it down to your local laws.

Hi, thanks. Legal aspects aside - to clarify, Big Hun says the kit will increase the power, so it will always give more than sub 12 rating and Mongoose is saying that it won’t Without changing the hammer and valve as well……….so who is right ? Sorry, I am confused!

Yeah I am a little hesitant to give out instructions on how to break laws lol. But Im also a God fearing, red blooded, American that still has the freedom to discuss most topics. I also think everyone is held accountable for their own choices and actions. Im not going to instruct anyone on how to subvert a 12fpe restriction. But we are all trusting the word of every user when we engage on a forum. I could actually be a sexy cafeteria lunch lady with a hair net that lives in Greenland.

And lets be real, this isnt like posting detailed instructions on how to assemble blowy uppy bad guy stuff. Im getting old and out of shape, and I can throw a baseball at ~40fpe. The UK laws are absurd, but Im thankful they run things the way they do. There wouldnt be a place like America otherwise. I dont want to get pollitcal or anything but the UK will never rule over me.

I think as long as you install the power block at the same time as the plenum you can get full power out of it. I hope you have the license to own a full power air rifle but that's your choice and risk.
