Introduce myself

Good evening,

Joined the forum looking to upgrade to a new rifle - newbie by these standards.

Had a few springers (which I could not shoot) so I sold. Grew up shooting my Dad’s Silver Streak which he bought a pair of to send one to my Uncle in Vietnam to shoot rats with…or so the story goes.
I still have a Blue Streak and bought a Marauder.25 and Hill pump as my first PCP.

Found the page looking at a Bulldog for sale and now fell down the rabbit hole - shifted to looking at the Uragan .30 that Mikelo123 has for sale…

Looking for something quiet and a step up from my Marauder- some hunting around the yard, the Uragan from what I have read here seems to be a better choice but at the top of what I was looking to spend as I am sure I will need a come up with filling options. I am a diver but don’t know if I want to give up my tank?

be hard to beat the marauder around the yard, mine has very few 'misses' to its credit and its quiet ... lots to consider as far as what you want .. spend, oh your gonna spend lol .. lots ... i would say the trick is get exactly what you want the first time so your not 'respending' ... say you get a bulldog, a moderator, a used tank and a yong heng to fill it, and lets not forget 100$ worth of pellets to start with .. right there your in 2k easy ... if you decide you want another gun that can alter things quite a bit so, really research your needs and wants before you go for it .. i'd definitely base caliber at least on whether or not its for hunting only anything other than the small calibers are going to be prohibitive to plink with .. so you want to shoot it or just blast furry sht lol .. that marauder 25 can take care of most of that just sayin ..

Welcome to AGN Century70. Just by reading your brief history, airguns are already a part of your life. I say go for the Uragan before it's gone. You can get by with the hand pump for now. Maybe look for a used SCBA tank with some life left in it. You won't be giving up your dive tank because most likely the one you have is either an aluminum tank (3000 psi) or a steel tank (3442 psi). You need an SCBA tank to feed that bad boy. Just check the dive shop you currently fill your dive tank at and see if they can fill to 4500 psi. Hopefully they do. Good luck in your decision.

Hi cen7,welcome to AGN. If I may add 2 cents. You are looking to up grade in PCP? From a Marauder. For backyard pesting and maybe expand that boundary sometimes ? I won the FX Dreamline here on this forum. I opted for the 22 caliber walnut classic version. If u r curious pls check out AEAC for Steve,s review of the rifle. The rifle is superb. Accuracy, weight, fit and finish, adjustable power, and very quiet. I don't hesitate at taking a shot at a starling at 65 to 70 yards. The rifle can do it but not always the shooter. For air I bought a Yong Heng compressor (they r cheap compared to ALL others and it lasted 2&1/2 years. Parts to repair are easily available and cheap. I don't do vids, sometimes pictures and never links but I'll most always try to give you an honest 2ents. PS,get yerself an R-9. No Regrets

Well played Century. You save me to some degree, but sadly only from the “cry once” part. Hell of a gun. I would say I was 80% there on it and was happy to learn of an on par quality alternative to the Wildcat and Taipan. I decided over a moment of complete sobriety and serenity over the weekend that I should buy either a compressor or SCBA tank before I invest in a 1k plus gun. I’d get impatient looking at it and buy some extravagant compressor. Anyhow congrats on a great pickup!

Yes I admit somewhat of a impulse buy but it did seem to check all my boxes, Mike had already purchased the mods and accessories I was looking at getting in the future other than glass.

Kind of like a kid waiting on Christmas at this point.
