Inspect your new travel tanks

Hello --

Got a 90 ci carbon travel bottle today. What a freakin' disappointment, as I had a family shoot for this Christmas weekend.

Went to air the tank up and find a leak at the neck, Needle would not even leave 0. That fast of a leak. Spun the valve off to check the o-ring, and O-M-G, what a freakin mess.

Used a bulb blower to clean a bit and all I did was create a cloud of miniscule metal particles. Next up, Q-tips. And, the reason I found for the leak was puddles and blobs of epoxy coating on the o-ring ledge, No way that o-ring was gonna find a clean surface to seal against.

Tank is Ninja-branded Gayston 90 ci with a Cochran tester stamp from August 2020. USA MADE.

There may be sintered filters on the fill ports of PCP guns, but if not, charging this crap into my guns would have wrecked em.

All the best, Mark

I only purchase from Joe Brancato for high pressure air filling and storage equipment. His stuff is safe and reputable. He done well enough to include selling air guns. My dad showed me what high pressure ( just 300 psi) can do to a straw broom. Just like an invisible knife. I have no fear of powder burners, But I have an awful lot of respect for high pressure air. Pressure in a fire arm is only there for about a nano second all encased in thick steel. Air guns the pressure is always present with a lot of gaskets. Remember the probe retaining screws that failing. I always error on the safe side of high pressure air. Please read and heed I want to see you posting in the future.

That was the reputation I was counting on when I ordered this tank/valve/whip from Joe last week. Pricey, but I am buying into the rep also, keep that stimulus money in the US.

I have worked on my share of cascade and O2/He mixing systems for diving operations, worked at a hydro/retest station, I get what your saying.
