Friend of mine is visiting from out of town with his K1 25, a late 2020. First time I’ve had a chance to try one and it’s certainly an interesting beast. He was sold on it based on the fact that other users report it being tunable from 6-80fpe. However, it has some quirks that seem to nix that possibility. I didn’t believe what he told me when he arrived and insisted we set about trying a huge range of pellets (and a few slugs) at various reg pressures and power wheel settings. However, he was right all along. It only shoots accurately with Hades and King Heavies, and only when the speed of the pellets are >925. It’s kinda remarkable (at least for me coming from regular PCPs) but it’s like the stars align crossing that 920fps threshold, going from a 3-4moa shotgun patter to hole-on-hole at 50y even with double taps. Before you ask, yes, he cleans the barrel and pushes the pellets in with a golf tee to seat them. I can’t see that anything is wrong with his gun. The ES is staggering (like 2-3fps) and it can shoot a whole mag as accurately as anything I’ve tried, just not below 925fps!
So, other K1 owners: Is this typical? What’s responsible for it? Is there any special pellet or setting to shoot accurately at 800fps? I won’t get into slugs because that’s not the power direction he wants to head in (plus it seems to be a very slow twist barrel).. Thanks in advance for any suggestions/explanations.
A befuddled weevil.
