I’m just posting this to share info as the article says it better than I can with diagrams. A high end top tier scope, in my opinion should be understood. In my non competitive life I don’t need anything much more than SWFA, Bushnell with Japanese glass of old or newer 4200/Elite, etc. I’m even happy with old Weaver, and common airgun scopes like Leapers, UTG, Accushot. I haven’t tried those Discovery scopes but I saw a lot of good reviews. IDK.
I’m currently looking for older Leapers 1.25x4 illuminated red/green fine 9 mil reticle. The biggest fault I saw in that particular scope for my Sparrow pesting on low powered .177’s to 75 yards was the eyepiece threads were junk. To have it set meant a change in POI, as entire reticle would move. I wish manufacturers had blueprints of scopes. If I don’t see an eyepiece with 40tpi or etched glass I know I’m not gonna be moving that eyepiece.
Some of these things are what makes a newbie to airguns give up or say junk can’t shoot well, start moving the turrets. Oh my. Add scope creep, hold sensitivity, pellet variations, wind, etc. it may just be user adjusting the eyepiece or magnification that gets them to call it quits.
Hope this helps someone & please any experience or thoughts on affordable scopes that range well from 10-100 like FT or ones that will focus and tell ya if your targets at 300 or 310, without a laser, please share.
