info on Crimson Trace 3?

Thats from YouTube. I don't have personal experience.

They are clearer than the Alpha6 and should be since the Crimson Trace 3 series normally cost almost $1200. You paying $449 for a $1100 scope. It's only 20x max power though vs Alpha6 27x.

The Alpha6 you paying $200 for a $393 scope. It's Chinese and a darn clear one too but the Crimson Trace is Japan made and of course clearer than any Chinese made scope even the Hawke Frontier which is the CLEAREST Chinese scope money can buy.

You are likely gonna get farther shooting distance if your Alpha6 is the 4.5-27x50 because the Crimson Trace is only a 4-20x.

Also make sure you look at the reticle on that scope. It has a very different highly cluttered Xmas tree with nothing above the centerline. There are no crosshairs so to speak and no side bars etc. I would have already had a 3 series if they had a reticle even close to the nice uncluttered one in the Alpha 6. Midway had a nice reticle 3 series but those sold out fast.

I ordered one yesterday (4-20) from Midway . I won't keep it if I don't like it, but because of the many positive reviews here I was willing to give it a try. I'll let you know my impressions. I also tried a 3-27 5 series but the one they sent me was defective. This will be my second shot at a CT but I'm game to try it since the feature set and spec is high quality for the money. Appreciate all the tips here on this aspect of the game.

I've had the Alpha6, the Barra and I still have the CT 3 4-20x.

First off the CT 3 being a FFP was important for me. I'm just not a SFP fan.

The Alpha 6 is damn clear, but the super-tight focus, zoom and turret knobs are not for me.

The Barra was definitely a nicer and clear scope than the Alpha 6, but a side by side between the Barra and the CT3 put the CT3 in the lead for me. It was a little clearer overall edge to edge.

+1!

same experience here with all three scopes, the CT3 has better contrast/color and resolution, Japanese Barra are slightly brighter with bigger eye piece so better in low light condition. Barra H50 has the best eye piece I’ve ever seem in my limited experience, absolutely phenomenal.

I'm no expert but I have eyes, ears and some observational aptitude so here's what I've come to so far in my hunt for value.

I just got a CT 3 series 4-20X50 . It doesn't match my Delta Stryker as you'd expect, but it can hold its head up against Athlon ETR 4.5-30 (I thought my sample was unimpressive), USO TX20S (nice scope) and the CT Series 5 3-24 I had here last week, The USO TS20X I brought in was very good performing and would have been my choice of this group if I was looking to spend more than the $450 the 3 series costs yet still keep it around $1k. The 3 series 4-20 gives up very little to the other scopes I mentioned (barring the Delta which is in another class) and costs a lot less. Turrets are tight and consistent, illumination is bright, optics are suited to purpose. Negatives? The diopter adjustment is not as "snappy" as I like and the reticle isn't my fave so far but for $450 dollars I am not disappointed. While it may not be the best $1000 scope on the market I think it is very competitive below $500. That's how I think how this should be judged, that is as very good value within its price segment. Don;t expect a Stryker or Trijicon but if you want an FFP scope under $500 in this mag range and objective size, I think you will be very happy with this scope, its optics, overall performance and finish. I also think the 5-20X50 CT is the best actual value of the scopes Midway is offering on sale from Crimson Trace although I haven't tried the 3-18. .
