Indoor chrono issues

Good afternoon AGN,

So I have a 1st gen Caldwell chrono with the correct Caldwell jack. I can usually get a couple shots before an error and I do a lot of my tuning testing and shooting inside so I tried the LED light idea. The lamps im using have 3 settings I tried it on all 3 light settings above and below the sunshade and when the lamps I put on are turned on I get an ERROR 2 then it jumps around to code that looks like this "2GH28@7&1" and then flashes between that and error 2.

I'm getting pretty frustrated with this chrono. Would love something I can use indoors and outdoors. Have any of you had this error 2 jarbled code pop up? If so any fix?

Thank you!

I use the Master Chrony Beta model with the light attachment for over 10 years and never had a single problem. I bought the Caldwell version a fews years back. I had it for 2 days and it did the same thing that its doing for you, reading errors. So I sent it back and kept using the Master Chrony in my garage. Most of the time I don't have time to use the chronograph until after dark, so it has worked out well over the years.

A few years ago I did a lot of online research before getting a Competition Electronics ProChronyDLX that included built in bluetooth, along with their light kit.

Once it is turned on and linked with my laptop I usually don't have to touch it. The laptop controls shot string data and saves everything.

With 1000s of shots it has had only a handfull of "missfires", and most of those were on me because it was not properly aligned. Most of my chrony work is also inside and thought about building my own light kit.

Oh so glad I didn't and spent that little extra. Its a joy to use and I can spend time testing and not messing with the chrony.

Indoor? no flourescent lights around it, make sure theres not crap on the sensor, should cure the Error2....

but the other code sounds like the brains are funky.......

Juse spoke with Caldwell. They are going to try and get me a new unit even though mines from 2016. But...check this out....they are out of stock..no microchips to make them sooo..hurry up and wait. Good news is like everyone else I have learned to be patient with everything I buy or warranty these days

lol .. i wouldng send it back until you get another one ... mine isnt that old but it is lighting picky .. it dont like sun, it dont like indoor lights, but it likes alot of light such as on a window sill thats not in the direct sun .. a weak battery seems like i get more errors on to even if its not saying its low .. 9v power is bullsht lol. .. they shouldve supplied a wall wart adapter ...i gotca 4 pack of rechargeables and a charger on ebay, they dont last as long as a regular but i can throw a fresh one in every time i turn it on ...
