Theoben Increasing pressure in Theoben gas ram...10 to 16fp.

After initial testing this new to me SLR98 (SN 557 bought new in '04) was running at 10 fpe...gun had never been cronyed or pressured increased by original owner. After finding my charging hose and pump adaptor, hadn't used it in five years, than only once or twice, but I remembered the process was easy. Just remove the blocking screw and oring at the rear of the compression tube, screw in the fill hose, got it from Jim at precision Air around 2010, using a male adapter on both sides connected the fill hose to my Hill pump, I just serviced that recently, and simply pumped to 50 bar, heard the valve open around 30bar and took 4 or 5 pumps to hit 50bar...doesn't take much and you can hear the process easly, than quickly released pressure to reseat the ram valve and test fired before replacing the blocking screw...I wasn't after a specific power just something under 17...ended up 16.3 @ 718 fps with CP domes...If I keep it I won't be shooting it much any way...Check out the numbers and the finial group I shot at 25y off my knee...did adjust the trigger a little too. This topping off process was completely routine and uneventful. The original owner insists he shot 2000 squirrel with this gun...condition wise I just don't see it...if not for some hand polishing on the stock I would have considered it very lightly used...I couldn't have kept it that nice just shooting it off my deck! Always a great day when you get to shoot a Theoben!

Great rifle, they do not make them like that any more. That blueing looks perfect.
The original owner who I've talked to extensively, is/was a hero for taking such good care of this SLR....I've owned quite a few SLRs, two from new, this one is exceptionally nice...no flaws that I can find in the blueing, and only hand polishing on the stock.
