Inconsistent groupings on Fx M4

Hogkiller
I did a test without the Mod. Still not good groups. Slugs may take a lot more effort than I want to do. I put the pellet liner back in and shot the Hades 44.8gr at 45 yards at less than 1/2" groups again. I'm happy. Maybe Johnsmith120 can take something away from this conversation that will help him.

I have an Uragan2 and took around 10 diferent slugs to find one that group great. And even the one that group great had to change the speed to get there. Some of the others looked like a shotgun patern or grouped and had some flyers. But with the Zan .218 (in my case) finally I achieved what I was looking for.

Maybe the problem is the ammunition and not the gun. With pellets you have good results... That said, it takes time and ammunition to get there, maybe you dont want to spend that.

I recently bought an Fx impact m4. It seems to be shooting inconsistently on a double stand setup (no I wasn’t holding it) when I was zeroing it. Would anyone know the reason?

So, me too! (wildcat 3 btl .25 cal with Arken epl4). imguess it needs a “proper” tuning…sigh (alot to this).can you “properly” tune one without a chronometer? I get “flyers” alot. 2 or 3 in the one inch at 70 yds then a couple inches out?? cold barrel a thing with these?i am pretty new (maybe five to ten thousand rounds downrange…)

Johnsmith120 I feel your pain. I also have an M4 that is inconsistent. Here are my settings;
FX M4 Impact, 30 cal, 700mm, Vortex crossfire II 6x18-44 scope
45yds range
Reg: 130bar
Macro: 16
Micro 5
Front Valve: 4+1/2 turn
Pellets 30 cal 44.5 gr FX Hybrids
Recently (200 shots ago) replaced my stock 1:40 liner for a 1:16 STX superior heavy liner.
The 1:16 shoots slugs better than the 1:40. But 44.8gr Hades shoot better out of 1:40 as you might expect.

Today, using the heavy liner I was getting .60-.70 groups of 5 shots at 45yds. Then next shot is 1 1/2" north?!?!?? Next shot is low left by an inch?!?!? Then three next three are high an inch, but stacked on top each other.
Well maybe the scope is loose. Nope, checked it. Barrel liner loose, Nope checked it.

I bought the to kill pests humanely. It's not very humane if my vital organ shot hits a leg.
Not happy with my purchase right not.

Yes I cleaned the new STX barrel liner.

I'm getting the same issue with H&N 50gr.
If it were $10 wrench, i would have thrown it. But I did the responsible thing and just put it away for the day.
I hear you brother… zackly my frustration level. New wildcat 3 btl with arken epl4 .25 cal any pellet/slug. I really do shoot better than this. Plis i swear i.m gettin cold barrel (?) shots first or second shot of the session

Micro at 5 is likely too much at 130bar. But maybe not. Stock hammer seems to be capped anywhere from 125 to 135bar. My M4 700mm gives me around 97% of max speed 20 micro clicks down from 5 at 132bar (it’s a .25 though). You need a chrono to figure this out. Plus, slugs are as*holes to figure out. A .30 Hades will be very humane to ordinary pests ;)
So, you guys are WAY over my head; micro macro clicks???

agree with the above.

i think it could be.....any or all.
1. pellets going too fast.
2. too much hammer for current regulator setting causing widely fluctuating pellet speeds.
3. your pellets.
too many times ive seen someone buy an fx and run the cheapest pellets they can find through it (crossman) and then blame the gun for not shooting at its best,
run some flavor of JSB,JTS,or H&N pellets if you want accuracy and consistency.
4. check the barrel liner and moderator for any obstructions or imperfections.
5. clean the barrel liner. alot of people forget this step cause they cant wait to get shooting,
maybe just some crud causing poor groups.

also,
seeing this was your first post,
how much experience do you have with pcp's?

too many unanswered questions lol
So, pardon my ignorance but howinell does a new guy “get” all this dialed in? Ive tried fx, jsp hades, hn hunter extreme and some cheap stuff. Sligs and pellets. Ground squirrels at 60-100 yds. Wildcat 3 btl with arken epl4(way more scope than i need at this range but.. quality over.. ). Flyers with everything ive tried. Some fly inchess off!

runnin 130 psi on the reg, barrel clean, everything tight. Stock barrel and liner. Hammer bumped up 1/4 turn..
