inconsistent accuracy iron sights

New member, so bear with me. My wife got me a Winchester model 1000 .177 air rifle awhile back and I've just started using it. Sighted in the iron sights & then started plinking and had fun for a couple of days, then couldn't hit anything. Went back to a paper target and saw my group was off the the right. Sighted in again and had accurate fire for a couple of days and then had to sight in again. Don't know what's going on, but assumed the rear sight gets bumped and out of whack somehow. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks.

Hello and welcome aboard. I would check all the screws on the gun to see if any are loose. If they are make sure no oil is on them. After the screws are degreased tighten them back down. If the rifle is a spring piston gun then I would apply a small amount of blue locktite to them since spring powered guns vibrate alot.

Also spring piston air guns are hold sensitive. You have to hold them the same way each time you shoot or the shots will be off. If shooting off a rest make sure you rest the rifle on the same point each time you fire.

I hope this helps.
