never heard of that ..get down around the mesa verde area where my mother used to live and theres alot of pararie dogs and jack rabbits though ..theres plenty of wide open country, i never needed permission ..

I never needed permission where I grew up either but that was a different time when everyone in the community knew everyone and a community was a community.

Do you mean Walden, Colorado in the northwest part of our State? Don’t know about ground squirrels up there but have done a lot of big game hunting around Walden. Was in Lake County just south of Leadville the past few days. The Robinson ground squirrels, adults and juveniles were very active between the storm cells. The adults will typically disappear in the next few weeks but depending on weather it’s not unusual to see the juveniles active well into September

I would say for most underground dwelling rodents, once the high summer temperatures hit, the buggers go underground, summer hibernation (yes that is a thing).
