In search of a good scope

I need a scope that can be used for hunter field target. I have a few Sightron Big Skys that I use now. I like them but don't have a real friendly reticle. I have one duplex reticle and two mil-dots. The mil dots are usable but still a little splitting aiming points aka guess work. I won’t have one of the Cinderella type scopes where after midnight they turn into a pumpkin. Or wash out after 12 power. I prefer second focal plane. I would love a Leupold EFR if I could get the right reticle but you can’t I have been down that road putting in more money than I could get in return. I thought I could live with a tree type reticle but for my eyes that is a distraction I don't care for. I would like a simple MOA or .5 mil. I played with an older EFR dot reticle,I have on a Anschutz this morning, it is clear from edge to edge on 20 power. That is what I want. What scope do I look into. I just haven't had experience with many 10 - 12 yard parallax focal scopes.

Hawke Sidewinder. 5 of the top 10 in 2019 HFT Nats were using Hawke’s. They were the most popular brand used in HFT as well. I’ve had and used them for years in HFT. Great scopes.
Currently, I now use FFP as I can make a more accurate DOPE card.

I bought a Barra H30 4-16x50 with a 10 yard focus that is very clear and very bright at 16x and prefer it over my UTG 4-16x44 Mini SWAT. It has touchy parallax where it has to be perfect to get it sharply focused with 5 BDC reference points including the center cross hair and the point on the bottom where the thin turns thick.

I bought it after reading good recommendation about the Japan Brand Barra Optics however this particular one says made in China but I really wouldn't have guessed or even known based on the brightness and clarity as it blows away the UTG by a lot. I only realized after looking under the scope after being utterly blown away by it's clarity and brightness.

I would recommend it if you like glass that looks like it's a little brighter and clearer than a Hawke Sidewinder30 4-16x50 which I also have and that's the closest comparison because it also appears to Trump my Aztec Emerald so the Hawke Sidewinder30 is closest.

thank you two for the replies. I also had a Aztec that I didnt care for that had to be replaced because of warranty. I sold the used one here for a loss. I thought about ordering a hawk sidewinder to try. I will know within the hour if I would keep it. I hate the thought of possibly loosing a hundred bucks in a hour. If I didnt like it. Have to think this out.

I would just buy your scope of choice from a return friendly dealer who doesn't charge a restocking fee for returns or buy 2 different scopes at the same time with a plan to keep the better one and return the other.
