Thanks for posting. Will always be grateful for those who’s sacrifices have given me, my family, and our people (all Americans) the opportunity to enjoy the freedoms I would have never had in my native country.
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE SERVED AND TO THOSE WHO HAVE MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE FOR THE FREEDOMS THAT WE HERE IN THE USA ENJOY EVERY DAY, YOU WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN! TO THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE LOST LOVED ONES, I AM VERY SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS!
You are a good man Michael who goes above and beyond the level of most people in making room in your heart and mind for others. That is a great virtue because when we see people on the street we have a tendency to judge them simply by their appearance yet that person may be one of the most interesting people you will ever meet and we never know what that person may be carrying around inside them. And while I am not a bleeding heart liberal, I still think it is a wonderful thing to have empathy towards our fellow mqn, if for no other reason than we are all sharing the same earth together and what we do with our lives impacts others in ways that are almost unfathomable … a small stone thrown in a pond makes a small splash, but the ripple can go all the way to the other shore. In like manner, our first responders and medical personnel in this pandemic expose themselves to the worst of this very dangerous virus day after day after day. They make a huge impact on the lives of those they are coming in contact with. As the movie "Gladiator" stated, "what we do in this life echos in eternity" … How TRUE!
In many ways, the same may be said about our military personnel, our police officers, our fire fighters as they put themselves in harms way because they realize that they are a part of something much larger than themselves and keep society (the good and the bad) in check. They are the essence of the real heart and soul of what makes this country such a great place to live and raise a family in peace and safety.
On Memorial Day I often take a few minutes from my day and visit my old unit website to relive some of what happened and remember those who gave up all their tomorrows filled with hopes and dreams of what might have been. I do that just to say thank you, that they are not just a statistic, that their life meant something and that they are not forgotten as long as I have breath in my body. Should you have the time and the inclination, the site is http://bobcat.ws/index.html and go to the section marked "Memorial Pages"
Absolutely!! Great post, Michael! +1 on all semtinents expressed here. Always remember how fortunate we are to enjoy the freedom and liberties we do, and honor those brave souls who paid for our country's freedom with their lives.
