In General?

i’ve been playing with my new impact MK ll in 25 and it’s coming along. I’ve got the 34 gr pellets shooting basically one hole at 50 using the pellet liner.

I have a slug liner “A” and I’m working with varmint knocker 31.5 to start. I have them shooting pretty good at 50 maybe not as good as the pellets but pretty decent. Both the 34 pellets and the 31.5 slugs seem to like 920 FPS

HOWEVER. The slugs seem to be much more sensitive to any adjustments made on the gun. Both hammer spring and reg even the pumper adjustment

So my question is this in general the nature of slugs just much more particular ?

I set the gun up easily for pellets but the slugs are MAKING ME WORK AT IT. Others finding the same ?

Accuracy, yes they are! It takes more time, tuning and testing to get most slugs shooting accurately...compared to pellets. You're not going to just grab a bunch of different slugs and have them shoot, it takes time. There are different o-gives, bearing lengths, bases and weights. Some shoot well, some don't. Don't get discouraged though, the 31.5 VK is a shooter out of my Impact. The 32.8 VK is another good one. Nielsen is also coming out with some between 29gr and 38gr that shoot exceptionally well with very little tuning.

I've have had the best results with the 31.5gr between 915-940fps in my 700mm slug liner. Good luck!

I guess I wasn’t too clear on that. Meaning any thing that varied the FPS as measured over the chronograph changed the accuracy ( group size) much more then a similar change seemed to affect pellets.

As an example once I got the regulator in about the 140 range shooting the 34 pellets I could change the power wheel and vary the speed and not have the groups open up much. I had to fine tune some but no large groups

Shooting the slugs any change on any of the adjustments seemed open the group.

I guess another way of saying this is finding the sweet spot has been much more difficult for me with the slugs

Yes, it is much more difficult to tune for the slugs but well worth the trouble and expense. A good harmonic tune will have you shooting slugs as well or better than pellets and give you sub MOA groups at 100+ yards but it ain't easy and can gobble up several hundred slugs still the end result is nirvana. I find that near 920fps is a good place for my NSA 33.5 slugs as well. I usually start out near 950fps and work my way down in velocity with slight changes to the valve adjuster knob. I shoot at a 25 meter target until I get three through the same exact hole then I shoot at 100 yards and if they are sub MOA I am done otherwise I change my reg pressure a tiny bit and start over shooting at 25 meters again and again until I get the sub MOA at 100.
