Impact X .30, 700mm....crapped the bed?

I have installed a Edgun digital pressure gauge. Regulator pressure was 136 bar. I bumped it up to 140 bar. Just like that,I lost about 100 fps velocity. Power wheel is at it's normal max. Opening up the front valve control to wide open,I can only get a max velocity of 803 fps. I turned the regulator pressure up to 144 bar and there was no change. I noticed the regulator pressure changes a bit from one check to the next....143 bar to 148 bar. Breach O-ring looks and feels OK when closing the probe. No puff of air in firing.
Did removing the bottle and degassing the regulator a few times cause a bit of foreign matter get into the regulator?.....or some other problem? It's a new rifle with about 1,000 shots and was running right around the desired 860 fps for the 44gr pellets. With all those shots,I noticed the first shot after the rifle has sat overnight was an inch low at 55 yards from the next 4 shots......and that is why I installed the Edgun pressure gauge...to see what was going on more accurately :( :(

I agree with PerkyVal. If the gun was set up at a lower reg. pressure then the hammer won’t have enough force to open the valve all the way under higher reg. pressure. Turn the hammer fine tune adjust with a 1.5 mm Allen. Do a few turns clockwise and shoot over the crony. You’ll see those speed numbers go up. At some point further turning won’t result in higher numbers. That’s where you stop. Then the hammer is tuned to the valve. You can then use the valve knob to fine tune the velocity. Watch AEAC’s video on this. It’s very good.

Now what? :-( :-(
Degassed the rifle and slowly set the regulator pressure up to 140 bar. Reset the front control valve to mid range and set the hammer spring tension to just a couple thousandths short of being maxed out (several full turns). Sub 800 fps results. Turned the front valve out to the 4th (max) groove and I'm just hardly at 850 fps. I should not have had to go THAT FAR with the settings. With it set like that,I should be well into 900 fps. All I want is 860 fps average and I'm topping out at 850 with no more to give. The regulator pressure varies from shot to shot, from 136 bar to 142 bar and the chronograph fps readings coincide. The rifle has only been charged with clean/dry air. Wouldn't be hard to convince me that the regulator picked up a fleck of debris or is faulty. Send it in or just get a Huma regulator for it?

Tomhu,

Take a look for the inner breech o-ring. If that's missing then you won't achieve high velocities. The air will be exiting the back of the barrel. You might dry fire the gun with your cheek close to the breech or better still, hold a piece of facial tissue (Kleenex) close to the breech where the probe enters it and see if a puff of air moves the tissue. A visual inspection will confirm. Hey it might save you a trip to the warranty center, o-rings are cheaper than shipping.

I replaced the breach 0-ring today and fired a few shots. Still no performance(the old 0-ring looked fine). Regulated pressure varied from shot to shot from 136 bar to 145 bar. It seemed to seek 143 bar most often. With that said, the pressure is there, even tho it isn't repeating. Power wheel is maxed out on the adjustment screw and anything less than the max setting will slow the velocity(as it should). Will hammer strike cause the regulated pressure to change from shot to shot? Is there anything down stream from the regulator and hammer strike that would also cause the low and erratic performance? There are no rattles, hisses or strange noises...just low/ erratic velocities.
All this mess from simply installing an Edgun pressure gauge and turning up the regulator from 136 bar to the desired 140 bar.

Milacik, The action is very stout and the manometer takes just a snug to be secure and not leak.
Sonny, the hammer spring adjuster is maxed out. I can not go any farther with that adjustment and I should have never had to adjust it at all in the first place with the regulator pressure turned up from 136 bar to 140 bar. Sure seems like the hammer strike is weak and I have no idea why as it was working so well all along. Cocking the hammer and holding it back and pulling the trigger , it seems to slide forward very smoothly. Yes,degassed by the manual and all adjustments were per instructions.
