Impact vs Crown

I have been watching videos and reading till my eyes are bleeding i really wanted and impact but after watching one video in particular by matt and he said one thing that stuck in my head that i have tried to live most of my life and not buy things that have all of the gizimos because it seems they break the easiest and like matt said he loves the impact but the crown is a much more simple gun. Crown .22 users speak up just curious.

I was in the same point and looked at the tuning and service vids on the Impact. Went with the Crown and thinking as soon as the Dreamline is in a bottle gun I will add it.

I have a Wildcat now and I will buy the Dreamline when they come out with the bottle version too. I love the Impact for shot count and power but unless the MK2 is a more reliable I.m buying a Dreamline bottle gun next. I want an AG with adjustable power wheel so I don't need to carry around 2 different AGs. It's easy enough to make a cheat sheet for the different power settings. I love bullpups and the Crown is just too long for me.

Go for whichever one appeals most to you. The Crown is no slouch....mine (600mm barrel) makes 43fpe with just a basic hammer tune kit, but could make 40fpe easily out of the box......that's a lot for 22 caliber being standard power is 30fpe. Having never shot an Impact, I'd guess accuracy is about equal.

If you want maximum power, the Impact would be the better choice. Also has the option for bolt-on twin bottles and high capacity magazines.

I have the Impact in .25 and have handled the Crown. You are considering two different airguns. I really like the impact because of its size and weight. It is also very accurate. You can easily shoot from the bench or take it into the woods for hunting. I have not messed with the factory settings. It shoots the 25.39 kings at 900 fps for 45 ft/lbs of energy and the 34 heavies around 805 fps for 48 ft/lbs. Both are very accurate and i get a great shot count. I find it easier to carry/maneuver in the woods.

I currently have an older Airwolf MCT in .22 that i like alot, but it is heavier than the crown. If I were to do it again, I would buy the crown due to it's lighter weight and simplicity. I also like having a full size rifle. I could get by with one, but having a bullpup and a full size is nice. I have not had any issue with my impact. If you think you will hunt a lot with your new rifle, then I would get a bullpup. If you are going to punch mostly paper, then I would get a full size rifle. Finances permitting, you would be very happy with one of each.

Mine is .22. Shot 4 different brand and weight pellets in back yard at 25 yards all in a 1/4 inch five and ten shot groups. Longest kill so far 116 yards with JSB 18.13 . HAVE not shot targets at longer ranges but ground squirrel head shots are EZ 9it to 50 yards. Shooting near 900 FPS. REG set to 130 BAR, hammer at 5, nice quiet pleasure to shoot gun.

I had the same choice to make, albeit in .25 cal. I chose the Crown initially. I was, and am very pleased with it.

However, I always wondered if I was missing something. So now I have both. I have the Impact setup for hunting primarily, and the Crown for the bench.

I'm a happy happy girl, but now I'm pondering another Impact, or perhaps a Wildcat in .22

After that I'll go and try a big bore.........

I think I need a program or something for my addiction

Apart from being a bullpup, the main advantage the impact might have over other guns is the valve adjuster. All fx guns can probably achieve the same accuracy when tuned right, but the valve adjuster makes it easier to use high reg pressure vs low hammer strike, as it can tighten up the higher velocity spread if you want to tune the gun for efficiency also. If you tune at the "knee" you might not use it, and paying extra money for it might not be worth it for some. In a .22 caliber shooting pellets you can choose to use 130-140 bar on the reg (as opposed to say 120 bar being "normal"), and limit valve travel with both hammer and valve adjuster, and probably achieve low extreme spread on an impact, while it might be harder to do the same on a crown, as you are more dependent on hammer force.
