Impact shooting slugs

Just watched a video called House Sparrow Innilation and they were shooting an FX impact at 920fps with 26 grain slugs with the new slug liners....WOW! I didn't know that impact would make that kind of power in .22 ! Awesome video....

yes I watched it also pretty loud when the birds get hit. 700mm barrel is also really getting the power up there

Those guys were really laying the smack down. JSB better get their slugs to market. Maybe the same time FX finally gets their liners out to all those who have been waiting so patiently.

What would you guys figure the shot count to be shooting 26 grain slugs / 960 / 700MM (out of an X)?

I'd guess closer to 25 shots. My 600mm Impact is a real air hog at those power levels, and I doubt the 700mm barrel makes all that much difference.

I drove a little over 2 hours today (each way) and shot ~50 pellets out of my Leshiy for some long distance practice, and had to hand pump it 3 times (in less than ideal circumstances).

Roelf said he shoots three full mags and then fills the bottle. He said he probably could have gotten another half a mag or more but to be safe he just fills after three mags.

Excellent, I'm getting more and more anxious for my Impact to arrive with each positive thing that I hear about it  

And dont get me wrong, despite the effort - the Leshiy was fun to shoot today. Even with a crosswind, the 25.39gr JSBs were nailing clay pigeon targets that someone had recently setup in some bushes 112y out!

That's impressive and the accuracy they were getting in that video even out to 112 meters I think he said at the ending shot....

Wow again and cant wait to see some Bob_O videos with slugs....hope those liners show up soon!

The air must be better there Seriously, I don't see how that's possible, unless the extra 100mm really does make that much difference. My rifle is pretty much maxed out, trying to see how much power I can get, and I'm shooting 30gr at 935fps. I get maybe 20 shots before getting down to the 180 bar reg at that power setting. If I shot the slightly lighter slugs, I could back down the reg, and maybe get 30 shots (complete guess). No idea how they can get more than double what I'd get. I wonder if they also have a 600mm barrel. I'd love to see a direct comparison between 600 and 700 on the exact same rifle. When I get done with my quest for max power, I guess I'll start working on compromises for more shots. That's what I love about this Impact hobby, there's always something to tinker with

Yeah thats more shots at 50fpe than id expect too.

I tried my 700mm .25 barrel on the Impact the other night for the first time. I get 980FPS with the 25g JSB and 880 FPS with the 33g JSB for a shot count of 4 full mags from either, this is 40FPS & 20FPS faster respectively than the 600mm barrel, so 58FPE (33g) and 54FPE (25g).

Accuraccy is phenomenal (only tried shorter distances though) reg set at 140 bar-that's with a digital KELLAR pressure gauge set-up, not the reading on the gun gauge, hammer maxed to 15mm and 3 full turns out on the valve stem.

Interestingly the Crown gets me 90 shots with the reg at 140, hammer 15mm and .25/30 transfer port, for 940FPS and 860 FPS with the 25 & 33g JSB's with the 600mm barrel, which is exactly what the IMPACT gave with the 600, however I am told FX dont reccomend using the 700mm barrel on the Crown.

If that is indeed accurate, my jaw is on the floor! I wonder though if his Impact is stock or if he's done any performance modifications to it? At the end of the day, if I could get 50 shots out of it at that power (with a single bottle / fill) - I would be very satisfied!

Hi Guys. Roelf here. That is correct, I got 69 shots before it fell off the reg today. Air temp was about 30°C and I'm at sea level. I'm not sure what my reg pressure is currently because my gauge is not accurate, but my guess is around 155bar to 160bar. I do have a 2mil spacer installed between the hammer and hammer spring that FX send down to me to shoot and test 28gr slugs, so my hammer spring is currently at setting 3 with the hammer tensioner maxed out when on Max. My valve limiter is on line three and a tiny bit. Now to get maximum efficiency you need to max you hammer and valve limiter, then increase your reg until you get about 10fps past your desired speed. Now turn the hammer to 5 and then 4 until you see the speed drop. You are very likely to to find max and 5 shooting at the same speed, maybe even 4 and 3. When the speed drops, go one setting back so that you get that 10fps more than your desired speed again. Now turn the valve limiter in slowly until you reach your desired speed. Your gun is now as efficient as it can be at that speed. Most people max everything and what happens is you get your speed but push more air than required, so the pellet slug leaves the barrel and air is still being pushed out of the barrel. You need to limit wasting that extra air by getting the balance just right. Pushing extra air out after the pellet or slug has left the barrel also has a negative effect on accuracy. I'm currently using a 700mm slug liner and can get a 26gr up to 750fps but found 930fps to be my accuracy node for the 26gr. I can get the 28gr up to 920fps with the 700mm but my accuracy node is at 900fps with them. The 600mm is best suited for 23gr and can get them to about 940fps, also found 930fps to be the accuracy node for them in that liner. Happy shooting and thank for the support!
