Impact Pellet probe

Hey Guys



Ive some trouble with my Impact. The Little screw that holds the Pellet Probe gets loose after a few shots.

should I use thread locker on it?

im afraid to strip the inside where the allenkey goes in.

It seems blue thread locker should do the trick. Wouldn't recommend anything stronger than that.

I can't speak for FX and their equipment since I don't own one but in my industry purple threadlocker would be the threadlocker of choice for smaller easier to strip screws.

We have 2 Impacts and the same happens on both. I've used both purple thread-locker and VC3, neither seem to do the trick. A couple of days ago, I used blue thread-locker and it seems to be holding. Be sure to let it cure for 24 hours. -Dave

well it seems to be a Impact issue. Thanks for the Tipp, Ive tried to crank it really hard but it gets loose after a while. I think I’ll try the purple, and if it doesn’t work I’ll go to the blue. Cause I think I striped already a bit of the screw..

1st I would suggest removing the screw to make sure the tip isn't broken.

I tried blue Loctite, still loosens up. I'm wondering if a larger set screw could be made to fit. I didn't notice any trouble until I took it apart to install the Saber ambidextrous cocking block.

Yep, while I haven't shot mine since I applied the blue Loctite, I suspect I'll have the same problem @DShepard. I seem to remember something awhile back where Ernest opened up the hole a bit and installed a larger grub (sorry, I can't find that article). If mine comes loose again, I think I'll order a new part from Fx. If I encounter the same problem after that, I'll likely drill it out and have a larger custom replacement grub machined. -Dave

A new part with an M4 screw instead of M3 should be available from FXUSA. They upgraded it on later guns, i still have the m3. Seems to stay put.
