Impact or Crown Continuum

I've owned both. Impact has a very nice rigid, precise chassis. But it does not point naturally, balance well, or even feel very comfortable in my hands. And the trigger poisition is fixed unlike the crown. Another gripe is the loading port is super awkward to access. But it does have more power. Especially the new PP mkii

The crown on the other hand is supurbly balanced, feels and points naturaly. Mine has been tuned up and modified a bit and is a 22 caliber. I only use the 380mm barrel for hunting. 960 fps with 16gr hades after porting and tuning. Laser precise. I dont shoot any further than 70 yards, almost always within 20-60

It is set up to shoot slugs as well in 700mm barrel. 36gr boat tails 218s @63fpe shoot clover leafs at 100yrd

I think it's a smidge under-powered for shooting heavier 22 or 25 cal projectiles and for 30 cal. And should be tuned and massaged to get it up to the power level I would want it to be at. 7gm hammer weight and a little port work seems to be all the gun needs. That's nothing compared to some of the work I've done on other guns.

Both guns are extremely accurate/capable. Impact is not as comfortable, and has more parts, easier to extract power.

Thanks guys for all the advice!

So far looks like the Impact is winning and I agree the big down side of the Crown is power in .25 and .30 (which is a big deal to me) but man I love the way that gun looks...

The Impact scares me a bit because I am NOT a tuner by any means and could see myself getting lost with all the adjustments but for .25 and .30 the power is there.

Keep em comin!!

Thanks,

Dr. Mike

I have 2 impacts and a crown continuum. I love my impacts because they generate a ton of power. The new slugs with the superior liner are fantastic. But I’m also having a blast shooting the Crown with the short barrel .30 cal in low power. 480 FPS NEVER in this world would I have thought that shooting the 30 at low power was so much fun. Absolutely love watching the pigeons get hit with that slow moving rock.

don’t get scared about the impact. Yes you can change a lot of settings and tune but you can also leave it as is and enjoy.

If you are going to own only one FX I would pick the Crown Continuum. I started with 1 Impact. I own 2 Impacts. I love the versatility and the tune ability. But that is the problem. 5 barrels, 7 Liners, 2 calibers, 6 Slug configurations, 7 pellet configurations, 2 moderators, 7 clips,3 scopes, 2 bipods, 37 size Oring tool box, and a spotting scope is the full Impact hobby experience.

The Crown Continuum in .22 or .25 with a arrow barrel 1 extra clip and a very nice scope is more than enough fun. 1/6 the expense. And ,the most beautiful balanced stock on the market. I will own one soon. You only need one pellet and one slug and FX took care of that. The Crown will be my next gun......

I purchased FX Crown because I prefer the classic rifle. The Impact is a great weapon, very powerful and very versatile, with many adjustments, but, if you live in a state like Italy, where hunting with compressed air is prohibited, the crown is a more appropriate choice .. .. Excellent for bench precision shooting and for long range in the countryside ..... calculating then that it costs almost half. The crown . 25, with a bit of work, can become powerful, but certainly not like the Impact of the same caliber.

That was one big reason I was looking at the Crown....Can slow it down a bit and have long or short barrels but the Impact on full steam in .30 would make for a nice puff of feathers.

I am still on the fence.. .Love the look of the Crown more but the Impact seems far more adjustable....

%90+ of my shooting with my crown is about 15fpe. In 22 caliber. And I've taken plenty of game at that power level. If I'm in the woods, it is cranked up to 32fpe. (15" Barrel) But it will output 65 fpe if needed (and more) 65 is overkill already. And pretty steep output for a 22. So, I stopped there. I'll be tuning in in 30 cal, and should get some great results.
