Impact new probe have texture?

My stock probe on my impact is smooth. Ordered a new probe from fx and it has some texture on it. Also the back end it longer and they stamp the caliber. The old one doesn't have it. Its weird why they would of put texture on the probe. Wouldn't it seal better with a smooth probe? The texture kinda feels like nail fill but not as deep so I guess doesnt matter much but I perfer it being smooth. I get 15 fps more on my stock probe but that's due to removing to O on the probe.

My Mk-11 probe is smooth where It goes into breech and seals against the o-ring but has texture further back?

The texture at the shank won't matter, but the front will have an effect if it is allowing air to blow by the o-ring. I'd polish it up to where it seals at the breech o-ring with 600-800 grit paper at the very least.

That "texture" is tool chatter from a chipped insert, I can see it in the finish on the back part of the probe too, shoulda' been cought by the operator. I'de want it replaced myself.

That's the new design, mine is exactly the same. These are the new probes I mentioned yesterday in a different post. I had a MKII purchased in April that had the old design. I got a new MKII a couple of days ago with this new design. It's a recent change. I think it's designed this way, it's definitely not tool chatter. You can see it but it's not rough to the touch, you can barely feel it. The probes slide into the breech more smoothly than the probe on my last MKII. The grub screw is better too.
