impact mkll moderators

Hi there,

I am looking for information on what is the most effective (quietest) moderator to put on my .25 600mm barrel.

I have The fx by Donny FL on now that came factory. I am putting a small range in my backyard and want to be the absolute quietest as possible

with my impact. Thanks in advance for your advice.

I have the same FX DonnyFL on a .25 Crown 600mm it gives me the hush I need. But, if you want quieter, I’d suggest a larger DonnyFL. Like the Sumo, Ronin, or Emperor. That is if gigantic pickle moderators on the end of your airgun is not a issue as far as appearance. They would be a bit quieter..

My gun is not real loud but I am looking for the absolutely quietest!

I am curious about the Huggett moderator although it’s expensive. If it is significantly quieter though then I’m in.

I’ve had huggetts, my impact still wears the Ronin by donny.. .30 cal 85 fpe it’s pretty quiet

It you want quiet, why not go 177 or at least 22. Bigger will always be louder. No matter what ldc you put on, it will still make some noise. .177 with a ldc is like mouse fart. All you hear is the action. I have a 25 and no matter what ldc I put it. It is still louder than I want. It's a trade off between more power or more quieter

The included Donnyfl ldc that came with my .25 crown and .30 Impact both worked well, I put a Tatsu on the crown and Ronin on the impact but it wasn’t THAT much of a difference. I might need quieter pellets/slugs because the sound made when they impact on target is very loud. (.25 polymags and .30 NSA HP)

I am guessing that sound is sometimes personal. I have a Huggett on mine, and I think it is quieter than the Sumos I have tried.

If you have access to a lathe, have a go at making your own, it’s fun to experiment with different baffle design and placement.

Hugget, Clague, Odb, DonnyFL and many others to choose from, the new Hugget Astille is supposed to be the most quiet for moderators of similar size. I have owned all of the aforementioned moderators and they all work great but I like a moderator to look good too. For that reason I use the Odb on my favorite gun! It's super quiet and looks good too! AoA usually has some used or on sale!

Bob must have missed your post so I'll answer for him.

His gun was modified by Ernest Rowe at FX USA. Parts were made by the same man but they no longer offer this service. Bob's gun will do 70+ fpe in .22 and he's a really good shot.

Thanks for all of the great advice. After some considerable research I have purchased a 0db model160s for my MKII. It might not be the absolute quietist as the Emperor or the Huggett Bastile perhaps may be quieter, I am not sure. It does seem to check the most boxes though. AoA was out of stock in the black so I got a little wild and went red. That is out of character for me so maybe it’s the Holiday Season or something! Thanks again and Happy Holidays!

I haven't noticed any all out .25s shooting slugs. I'm sure they're out there, I just haven't noticed because I only have .22 and .30

No one mentioned it, but Neil Clague made a larger ldc for my .25 shooting Rainstorm 22 at 80+ fpe. I have a LONG Clague on my 200 fpe Talon/Dor iin.257. Very quiet. .

Also missing is the DonnyFL Shogun. It is an extended Sumo. I have it currently on the 73 fpe .222 Raptor Mini Slug Gun. Had it at 86.27 fpe today.( I will be fitting .25 slug barrel soon . It will be a TJ's PB barrel).. It is very quiet.



In the rain, with no wind for a change, the Raptor Mini printed a 12 shot group at 50 yards of right at 1/4" with the hand cast NOE 39 gr Spire Points. Man, I'm loving the Raptor!

I have a Ronin and a Tanto (DonnyFL/FX stock) and the Tanto is quieter by a few dB's. However, I used an iPhone App so who knows how accurate it is. Also, I do not know if servicing, cleaning, or replace the guts is required. I have shot lots and lots of tins through it (Ronin).
