FX Impact M4 trigger sear revisions

Well, I guess you can see from my posts that I’m playing with the impact a little these days…

For whatever reason I noticed a clicking sound today when cocking and wanted to check it out. I guess it was always there and I just never noticed. Anyway, looked at the trigger and. Realized that the sear is being pushed up with a click of sorts very early in the movement of the cocking arm.

I then figured that the hammer seems to be riding on the rear part of the sear basically along the entire length of the hammer (almost). Made two videos trying to capture the “click” lifting the sear and trying to show how the sear moves and wobbles up and down if you pull the hammer back while trigger is pulled (sorry for quality… holding phone with one hand and handling trigger/cocking arm with the other…).

I then took the sear out just to check and the part that’s pushing the sear up so that it catches the hammer (the part the hammer seems to be riding on along its length) was pretty beaten up, see pic. Polished the sear up to mirror while I had it out but also checked the schematics and it seems they changed a part of the trigger, part 3 on the trigger drawing (well, at least the one I have is not the one on the exploded view…). I then went to see what videos are out there and the part I have is the same in Ernest’s video. Sub12 has a video on the trigger as well and he has the one that’s on the drawings… which has a bump holding the sear up, I’m guessing to avoid the wobble and the hammer riding on back part of the sear?! Obviously I’m now wondering To what extent this affects consistency… Anyone knows anything about that?

Just for the record, the trigger on the m4 is, imho, stellar. One of the best aspects of the gun for me. Will also call UA just to see whether they ah e any insights (and to get the part of course)…
