Impact m3 not cocking

Hi ,
I just changed the barrel on my 22 impact compact to the 800mm 30cal slug barrel with the barrel tensioner and now it doesnt cock .
WTF!

Joking aside, what exactly do you mean when you say it doesn't cock? Is the cocking handle very stiff and hard to pull back to cock? Or does it only go back part of the way? Or???

Yes- and by details we need ALL the details. Did you add a slug power kit, etc, because by your description all I see swapped out is a barrel and a pellet probe, which to me means no fasteners on that top plate were removed, no disassembly of the valve knob and removal of the C1, no removal of the cocking block/rod/and pellet probe carrier.

It's probably just a o-ring problem....you know it's got alot of o-rings..

I recently had a new Power Block installed into my M3 by Baker Airguns (love them!) and they found that after the install they couldn’t cock the gun and it turned out that some metal part of the cocking mechanism was scored (don’t ask me which part) over time. They contacted FX USA and they sent them out the part under warranty.

I feel your pain, My M3 has been at FX more than it has been I’m my gun safe. I hope yours gets figured out soon, but I do have to say when mine is functioning it is absolutely the most fun and accurate rifle I have ever owned. And I can’t wait once again to get it back. I just hope it doesn’t break again

M3 or MK2 or MK1, all these are principaly the same machines. With your change to a slug shooting gun, just my guess but I need to ask it...Have you moved/adjusted the hammer spring too much=stiff for more power?

I’m surprised the OP hasn’t checked back in. If I just spent $2K on a gun and it wouldn’t cock after a caliber change I’d be checking in on my “need help” thread every 30 minutes, lol, so I could get back to shooting!

I'm guessing when you installed the front barrel clamp the hammer moved foward and is now in front of the cocking pin. If I am guessing correctly there is no tension as you cock the rifle.

All set , i screwed the top plate that's under the scope rail down too tight so I had to back it off a little now it's fine. The only problem is my gun is shooting only 734 ft per second and that's only with the 47.2 grain nsa slug

Ah another helpful dose of wisdom. Fx the only gun that can be put back together incorrectly. Right?

You will probably need to open the valve up another turn and will need a heavier hammer like I suggested before either a huma weight or tungsten especially for slugs they push a lot harder

47 gr slug is heavy and hard to push used a tungsten hammer in my friends 25 cal had the 44 gr slugs over 970 fps

Regs would need to be bumped up to like 180 for the first and 150 for the second

I agree; the Tungsten really drove the slugs on my .30.

But in all honesty, when your switch from grain to grain (not always), but especially when your switch calibers everything needs a slight tune adjustment to get it perfect. I don't have a .22 for the M3, but I know I have a similar tune for my .30 that you started at, and I am shooting around 930, I thinkkkk... And it's a laser at 100 yards.

Im actually at 180ish for the front. with a 700mm barrel, and the tensioner.

Ok, here goes.
I bought the gun used .
It was an M3 non powerblock 22cal compact. I sent it back to FX because reg.#2
Was leaking. while it was there i ordered an 800mm 30cal barrel and tensioner so i called fx and asked them to install a powerblock and that i had the 30cal Barrel intentioner ready to install so if they could tune it for that setup.
The person i talked to at fx said i should get between 900-950fps w/a 62gr Nielsen slug instead I'm getting 732 w/a 47.2gr Nielsen slug that's only 56 fpe
