Tuning Impact M3 - Lowering Hammer Spring tension Increase FPS???

Hammer Spring tension does not have an effect on FPS until I drop it below 2.5 on the micro wheel. Then it goes from 870 to 930……

What conditions make this possible? What am I not understanding?

You likely have too much hammer spring for the set reg pressure. This causes the hammer to whack the valve so hard that it slams shut too quickl. When you lower the hammer spring tension there is a gentler strike from the hammer and the valve doesn’t hit the stop and slam shut. Therefore it stays open longer giving you more air and consequently more velocity.

The key is that the two have to be in balance. Either reduce your hammer spring, or raise your reg pressure, or some combination of both..

You could also adjust the valve adjuster (I’m assuming that you have an Impact since you mentioned “micro wheel”.
