Impact M3 back on track

Sometime back I posted 5 MOA & better groups at 100 yards that I shot one day. Being a tinkerer I couldn't stop there and had to try different projectiles, different weights and diameters, settings, ad nauseam. After that came multiple trips to the range, each ended by being less hopeful than when I arrived.

I try to be methodical but maybe I'm too excited about my subject to be a good scientist, so sometimes I test a few things at a time. I love Monty Python and The Three Stooges. I am a silly person.

Recently I've taken the optional carbon fiber barrel sleeve that slips over the barrel and filled the slight space between the two with silicone grease in an attempt to attenuate vibrations. Haven’t been able to bring myself to embrace the permanence of glue. Does it help? I dunno.

I removed the the after end O-ring from the inside the muzzle nut and instead wrapped the muzzle in Teflon tape for a firmer fit as suggested by a post somewhere here. I think this might help. I try for zero compression of the barrel liner with the nut torque. Barrel compression=bad, I’ve learned this much.

I tried to be firmer on the grip and shoulder. A lot of modern airgun wisdom recommends the artillery hold, like shoot it but don't touch it while you do.

I visualized the hole in my target appearing under my crosshairs. Rather than doing my utmost and then seeing where the shot falls, I attempted to intend the POI onto the target under my reticle.

The day was windy so I did most of my testing at 50 yards, verifying the velocity I felt was best and tweaking settings. Once I was happy I shot these at 100 yards. If you don't recognize the target the squares are 1 inch.

I confirmed that my rifle likes the Nielsen 24.5 grain .217 diameter slugs traveling at 990-1000 FPS.

Now maybe if I play with the micro adjuster and valve just a little…
