Impact M3 .177 insane shot count with Hades and easy to turn up for slugs

I’ve been playing with a “backyard target tune” myself…

I dropped the power of my Weihrauch HW110 .22 from 895fps with 15.89g pellets down to 755fps with 14.66g pellets. The gun is almost silent with this tune.

Shot count improved from 42 to 130!! I kid you not, it “falls off the reg” (around shot 100) by slightly increasing velocity above 755 and then very gradually falls back down. I shot 13 dime sized 10-shot groups at 35 yards (3 of the groups were actually at 41 yards) - with only about 12 pellets outside a dime - shooting H&N FTTs straight from the tin.

I fill to the max 200 bar and shoot down to 60 bar.

I can’t stop shooting it (love the trigger on the HW110). All my other rifles (FX, RTI, Daystate, etc) are jealous of it now, lol.
I did similar with my .177 HW100. It's shooting the 10.3 g a little over 700 fps, and it's a wonderful yard rifle, almost silent, huge shot count, and still lethal on squirrels. I think the reg set point ended up around 90 bar, but that's just an estimate as I don't have a tester. IMO, many air gunners in the US are missing out on a very enjoyable part of the sport by not trying the sub-12 fpe power range.

I have my .177 Impact MKII reg set to 60 bars - getting 150-220 shots with great accuracy, but I need more shots.
Settings
Reg : 60bar
Valve adjuster : Min (1st line)
Hammer spring : adjusted to mid-Low
Hammer wheel : Can be used from Min to Max
My hammer spring adjustment has been set to low. This tune works well for both 177 and 22. At the MIN setting on the wheel, 10gr pellets are about 915, while turning it up to 2-3 enables me to shoot .22 15-18 gr at 900fps.

It is a tune that works for both calibers

The only thing I want to do is increase that shot count to 300-400
@jcdavis1281 can you share your tune - if I can get even 300-350 shots from my 480cc bottle, it'll be great!
I have my hammer as low as it will go and my valve just over 2 lines. This is on a M3. When I had my Mk2 set up for .177 I was shooting Air Arms 10.34s at about 840fps and was getting about 200 shots per fill on a 300cc bottle. Reg was 95 bar on that one but that is all I remember for the settings. The Mk2 had a 500mm barrel not the 700mm I have on my M3. You might try to turn up the reg some then tune for about 840 and see what you get. Just make sure to carefully record current settings in case you decide to go back.

I do have a reg tester and I’m at 95 bar.

I was using my 755fps tune with the FAC hammer shuttle and it was good. Then I switched to the “sub12” hammer shuttle and I noticed both accuracy and efficiency improved - shooting at the same 755fps (18.5 ft/lbs).

I was surprised that I could easily get velocities above 800fps with the sub12 hs shuttle. It has a wide adjustment range. I think having the 600mm barrel (which does not come on the sub12 versions) helps.

I think the HW110 was designed around the sub12 hammer spring shuttle - for the European market. My rifle seems “happier” since I switched to the lighter hammer spring setup.

Agree. I think all the Weihrauch rifles were designed around the sub-12 fpe platform, primarily for Europe. They haven't caved to the US demand for everything being bigger, faster, more powerful. They build a beautifully balanced rifle, when used at modest power levels. I have no plans to power mine back up to the FAC level of power.

I decided to move my Sekhmet digital gauge to the second reg and it turns out my factory gauge was off. It is not 80 bar but 95 bar. That means it was set at 115 bar from the factory and not 100 bar. I had the digital gauge on the bottle because I wanted to see if it was correct as it read different than my compressor. That factory gauge was off as well, it read about 20 bar low. The digital matches my compressor.

Went out and put some 12.5 and 15 grain slugs down range. It will send the 15s 920fps and I settled on 880fps for accuracy. Macro on 16 and micro on 3 with valve on line 4. 2nd reg at 95 bar. Below are two 5 shot groups with the 15s at 50 yards.

All I will have to do to go back to pellets is turn my valve back down to 2 lines and the wheel back down to 1. I am very happy with the ease of adjustability of this M3 over my Mk2.
