Today I took a solo trip to two of my ground squirrel permissions in N.E. Oregon. The weather was 45-50*, mostly overcast and very windy so most of the squirrels were underground with their babies. I shot out of the drivers seat of my truck using the window sill as rest and a very loosely shouldered gun and looking at the camera video screen. Even with the conditions and less than stable rest I lucked out going 7 for 7 with ranges to 91 yards. I think I ranged the 91 yard hill inaccurately, dialed in too much elevation and hit both higher that I was aiming (one squirrel right in top of the head and the other a high chest shot). In another month the weather will be warmer, the babies will be teenagers and the shooting will be orders of magnitude greater. Can't wait. And I can go with friends. It was pretty lonely today with nobody for miles around.
If you watch the slo-mo portions you can see the yellow slug bases in flight.
