Picked up this one about a month ago. It wasn't without reservations. I've heard leaking and poi changes but took a chance. I use my rifles and hunt and have no need for wondering if my first shot is going where I aim. I'm pleased to say after 2200 down range I'm not concerned with the above any longer. Sence day one it has stayed leaned in the corner, picked up by the barrel and suffered a couple wacks on the door jam with the moderator. Poi remains the same.
I do see how a novice tuner could get into trouble easily with all the twisty dials and nobs without fully understanding how the system all works together. Would be easy to Jack it out of shape. Every fx I've owned, wildcat and royale. If too much hammer strike is dialed, velocity will fall back off. Not the norm for any other gun I've tuned. So I've seen a few cases of people needlessly pounding the snot out of valve pins and rods wondering why they can't get more speed. Barrel liner is under compression, I could see if you tightened it too much you could cause some funky harmonics.
I've had the barrel and liner out a few times and a re zero is never more than a few clicks to get back on target. Barrel o rings are a pain in the rear. Even though I'm totally satisfied with accuracy the liner will be carbon fiber sleeved to eliminate those pita orings.
I settled on 22 cal for the huge choices in projectiles. With a little research I've found the pellet liner 1-19 twist will shoot 217slugs quite handily. None tested by myself yet.
I've got it modestly tuned. 70 bar sending 18 jsb at 955. Valve adjustment turned in to bring it down to 925 and tons of shots per fill. Darn near mouse fart quiet with the stock hollow can.
Wife and I were on the back deck enjoying the afternoon. She set up some bottle caps on a board and one other target for me at 85yards. Bipod, no rear bag. And was slinging the caps pretty easily. When I missed, it was my fault. It deserves better glass than what's on it. Wife says, are you going to shoot that other target I sat out for you? I said right now, keep an eye on it for me. Got locked in best I could and let her fly. She says ...you got, I saw the smoke! ( pics coming) I had to grin because it wasn't smoke she saw.
Anyway, no disappointments and couldn't be happier.
