I’m loving this reticle in FFP

It is the new FFP Sidewinder. The scope is fantastic! It is clear and bright, tracks, holds poi while focusing and changing magnification. The XMas tree reticle is not busy at all and rocks in the wind. Can’t wait till a reviewer gets hold of one.

Yep, I love it too, although I would prefer if the '2, 4, 6' Mil marks were numbered, but that's pretty minor actually. I'm a little confused by your last statement, did you happen to see this review yet: Scope Review: Hawke Sidewinder FFP 6-24 x 56mm (vs. Argos, & Airmax 30)[/QUOTE]https://www.airgunnation.com/topic/...-vs-argos-airmax-30/embed/#?secret=vwAbVJavh2 ? I spent a LOT of time breaking down the details of the scope extensively...

Glad you like the scope as well!

Yes, I saw and replied to your other post. I did one on the Athlon Argos BTR 8-34X56 FFP . Almost everyone draws the exact same conclusions on that scope. Good glass, narrow eyebox at high magnifications, and parallax markings on the side focus are off. I suspect the parallax error is somewhat driven by the diopter adjustments on the eyepiece (most older shooters become far-sighted and need bifocals to see close). I will explore that later. Both the Argos and the Sidewinder FFP are very good scopes, and perform at a level better than most airgun shooters. Often it is small differences that drive the choice of purchase between these two FFP scopes, as they are similarly featured. I found it was too easy for me to make a MIL counting error when I was shooting downrange and focusing on a target, for me, I needed the numbers to ensure simple mistakes were not made. I actually cannot imagine a scenario where I will be shooting past 24X magnification; I mostly got the higher magnification to avoid bringing a spotting scope to the range, or field glasses out when I am hunting (one less thing to pack up or lose). The camera tilt comment was about the photo I posted, I didn't have it level with the reticle, so it leans... and OCD thing which disturbs me, but probably beyond most people's notice.

I see a reviewer has gotten hold of one. Nice detailed write up. Thanks for pointing it out. I had indeed missed it.

Yeah, I'm really happy with the new scope for sure! The parallax settings seem spot on as well, so it should work for range finding just fine at 24 power magnification. Best of all, the sharpest focus also seems to correspond to the correct parallax setting (not always the case with scopes), so that makes it easier.

I shot the two groups below tonight at 50 yards (parallax ended up being exactly on the 50 yard dot) and 75 yards (no marking, but it was in the right location in between 50 & 100 yard marks on the dial). I'm super happy with it now!

50 yards:

75 yards:

With the clarity of the scope, and the great optics, 24x mag doesn't seem to be too limiting either...

"JWilson"That 75 yard group is insane. Great work!
Thanks-I was really really happy too! Thing is: yesterday was the first time I even tried shooting groups at 75 (or 50) yards now that i have thw scope issue all settled. Honestly. So I’m thinking there may be better results to be had with some more time and patience.

It was pretty nuts watching some of the shots litrerally disappear into the same exact pellet hole without enlarging it-really quite bizarre.
