I would like a target with iguana vitals. I would make one but I could not see a lot of information on the best shot placement. They are tough and I would like a diagram of the vitals, heart, brain, lungs etc for practice anyone have one? Anyone know the best shot placement!

Hope I get the chance some day. Before I got into airgunning I lived in a house where we had them all over our yard, even living under our house....!
Please, add some recipies to this thread, I feel compelled to eat what I hunt (in case of an iguana, that is, the feral pigeons I have someone else eat....
).

These guys can run away and very fast if hit anywhere on the body. Go for the two head shot spots. If you miss entirely they will wait round for you to take another shot

I'm surprised the eyes aren't a good target. The eye hole in the skull seems wide open for a brain shot. The others put the shot going right into bone. I get that a .22 with enough energy will handle that, but I wonder why the eye isn't also mentioned? Anyone know where the brain is in relation to the eyes?

Iguanas are an invasive species in Puerto Rico. They have proliferated to the point of becoming a serious nuissance to farming. A few years ago the Natural Resources Department ranged had to cull them at the International airport because they were presenting safety hazards to departing jet planes. I have shot myself many many hundreds of them and have watched a few thousands being shot. It is much like shooting big game ; shot placement is essential. .30 cal body shots have not killed these shock resistant reptiles but brain shots with 22's and even 177's have caused instant death. Picture shown is accurate. Shooting just behind the eye guarantees instant immobilization.

Damn, it looks like their nuts are just beneath their vertebrae at the base of the tail. Whatever type of lizard that is in the diagram.
