I have a buddy who never shot a springer. I have taken PCPs over to his place and shot before and he grasp that pretty fast. He has a fence about 75 yards away that we normally shoot small objects off and he does very good. He has a Cedar siding house and last winter some squirrels damaged several boards and it cost him over $500 to replace the boards so he asked to use an airgun to get rid of them. He wanted to use a springer so he wouldn't have to deal with air supply. I loaned him my D350. I zeroed it at 35 yards because that's near the center of his back yard. I instructed him about using a light hold and explained hold over with a relatively low power gun. That was two weeks ago. I talked to him today and he said that he have shot 5, but there are a couple more he needs to get rid of. I asked if he had trouble hitting them and he said that he has only missed a couple of shot because they moved at the last second. When I asked where they was shot he said he shot them off the fence. I said that's 75 yards away. and you have only missed two shots. Long story short, he wasn't aware that he was making epic shots so I didn't tell him.
