Events IFTA monthly report

This is the Iowa Field Target Association monthly report for July 2025.

The next field target competition with the Iowa Filed Target Association will be held Sunday August 24, 2025 starting at 1:00 pm.

At the West Liberty Gun Club.

The Facebook group now has 46 members.

Thank you, to all the people that are making this happen.

A lot has happened at the airgun range this month. There are now five field target lanes we can lay out in a wooded setting and a 75 yard plus benchrest lane. In addition to the four lane practice course with a sight in lane that is open and set up for club use seven days a week.

The field target lanes has been expanded to five lanes. One lane for sight in. And there are twelve reactive targets permanently set up in four lanes for anyone to use when the range is open or during public hours.

In addition there is now a 75 yards benchrest lane West of the field target course. This is also the sight in range for doing work with sights and scopes.

The weather is still hot. Sun screen / bug spray and pop up tent are still good to have. Definitely need a hat. And light weight long pants and shirt keeps the flys away. I go to the range at 8:00 am and shoot for an hour or so every Saturday and Sunday if anyone wants to join me.

The airgun range is open to the public and club members. The sight in range is set with permanent markers and you can move your own targets in that area.

There are animal silhouettes with open kill zones set in the field target lanes. These are operated by shooting the lower paddle then the upper kill zones is reset. Feel free to move the animal targets. Don’t push them in to the ground by the silhouette. It will bend or cut you. Hold the base and just push the spike into the ground. Make sure the paddles work.

Eye and ear protection are required at all time and a hat is strongly recommended at the range. Mosquitoes are pretty thick back in the wooded section so bring some spray.

If you live in the West Liberty Iowa area. And you want to shoot airguns or Airgun Field Target or bench rest. . Please consider joining the West Liberty Gun Club.

If you join the West Liberty Gun club you can use the Airgun range, pistol bays, 100 yard range and trap corse anytime the range is open. Unless there is a competition.

Public hours are Saturday and Sunday 1-5 pm.

CHECK THE SCHEDULE!

Public access is sometimes suspended during large competition events.

Report to the range officer building before going to the range.

Club members can shoot from 8am - dusk seven days a week. I will be at the range Saturday mornings.

If you are interested in getting together for Saturday or Sunday morning shooting matches . PM me or Email.

I will provide more details as things progress.

Great progress. The lanes look promising. With five lanes you can host a full match. Shoot through five lanes. Move the targets, eat a light lunch then shoot through them again. (y)
Since the club is new and the shooters and still beginning we do a loops. That way you kinda get a second or third try at the same target. Doing fun shoots for now.
The gun club has really given me a lot of area to work with and been super supportive. This is more like an airgun theme park. We have a field target range for practice and one for competition set up all the time. Plus enough room for extreme field target, bench rest , silhouette or just long range shooting up to 100 yards.
