If you had to choose between AGT Uragan or JSAR Raptor

If I'm a "manufacturers tester" I'm sure unaware of it. I paid full price and waited my time.

I think the only atypical aspects of my purchase are that I wanted a .20 and I wanted a barrel thimble and I'm shooting at lower power than most are interested in. Both requests were granted as the Raptor by nature is a semi custom gun.

That being said, I've been pretty transparent with my thoughts and feelings about the gun, both positive and negative. I even posted a pic of about 100 consecutive shots from the gun at 55 yards, no cherry picking whatever.

From this owners opinion, there is a lot to like.

I'd investigate the backlog of JSAR orders and ask for a honest assessment of progression of it in wait time. Could be he's got 50 to 100 orders already. So the question is can you wait 6 months, a year, more???

I know of another custom builder that struggled with 2nd party parts that didn't meet his standards so those caused setbacks and lagged wait times severely. Some critical parts had a 3-12 week wait time to him alone, not including other parts not made in house.

I guess if one had the money they could get the Uragan first, maybe find a used one to see what you like and don't like about it. Then at the same time order the JSAR and when it comes in draw all your conclusions about both. Sell the least favorite, if it's the Uragan and you bought it used, you won't lose much if any money on reselling it.

I can give some insight very shortly as my .22 Raptor mini with the production adjustable regulator will be in my hands tomorrow.

Having owned a Uragan while a great gun had the reg fail on me and returned it.

A guns looks don't matter much to me. I find the Mini much better looking than the standard raptor though. I'd personally choose a Raptor

The regulators are here and they are shipping. Soon you will see reviews. I'll take the time with the gun and I'll use it on the channel... probably will do a first impressions video but a more in-depth one will be done after I have a tested the gun and get used to it so I can give a better opinion. I feel I'll have a lot to learn with this gun and for me this is another plus, do you want to tune the gun and be flexible to shot low speed or high speed? If that's what you are after... Raptor will be easier than Uragan. I loved my Taipan but I was feeling that there were things I wasn't able to achieve with it.

So I hope to have a gun that can offer the opportunity to tune and tweak without having to pay 2k for that.

I ordered a raptor mini as Dillon but mine was a .25 cal and Dillon ordered a .22

The .25 was only offered with one barrel a TJ that was designed for both pellets and slugs, I paid $150 extra for the .25 cal option.

I think in .22 you can choose a slug barrel and a pellet one and if I remember correctly Dillon also picked the TJ slug one for his .22

The total amount of my order was 1381.25 including shipping. Which by the way I found extremely expensive at almost $100.

I think I missed the part of how long.....

I placed my order in September 21... don't ask Dillon... he is my hero for being so patient with his order. Originally JSAR was shipping the guns without the regulator that will be used on the final product with the promise that after the regulators arrived they will send them to those with the old regulator.

Dillon opted for waiting for the gun with the new regulator and was waiting I think for almost half a year...he can correct me if I'm wrong. Those Ninja Regulators took an eternity to arrive.

As I said before the Regulators are here now and guns ate shipping. I don't have confirmation that mine has been shipped yet but really hope it will soon.

Mike let me know if there's anything you think I'm missing or you are interested in, I'll gladly reply

I don’t think you would go wrong with either one. I have a Raptor in .22 with a TJ slug barrel and it is accurate, quiet and very powerful. It really does need the in-house adjustable regulator to be able to tune it to its full potential, although it shoots remarkably well with the Ninja reg that it was not designed for. The balanced valve makes it very efficient. I’ve been playing around with different tunes and I can get 35 shots @ 950fps with JSB 18gr from 1700psi to 1100psi. The Uragan is a great gun with a CZ barrel (accurate) and large 580cc bottle, lots of shots. The Raptor is very simple to work on and tune...I’ve seen videos on the new AG2 models and they are pretty simple to work on. The Raptors AR platform is fun if you want to put different furniture on it. Have fun researching and deciding on what gun you prefer!

July 14th ordered my Mini 2 days after they became available to purchase. I have a .22 Raptor Mini with TJ barrel. Mine has the new adjustable reg. I told Travis to wait to ship mine until they got them. He set the reg at around 2000psi which he said should be good for the 23gr NSAs in the mid 900fps range. Not necessarily tuned as I'm going to do that depending on if it prefers the 20.2gr, 23gr or 24.8gr NSAs. Plus that's part of the reason I bought this gun to tinker with the tune and leave my other guns alone lol. Cost to me was around $1300 shipped.

Mine should be here tomorrow so no word on how it shoots. But hoping to be able to shoot tomorrow after work?? Not sure it's supposed to be 20mph+ winds. But I might just rough sight it in and plink with it.

And yes Orion the wait wasn't fun but I'm sure will be well worth it. Almost 6 months, however my EVOL will be 11 months come the 23rd lol. But the $$$ saving buying it through preorder and waiting vs now buying through AOA is well worth the wait!

Thanks to both Orion and Dairyboy, that’s the type of info we’re all looking for to factor into buying decisions. So it looks like the Raptor is about $100 or thereabouts less than the Uragan at current prices if shipping is factored in. And both are a thousand less than the Evol. Anyway, thanks again and looking forward to hearing how they shoot. I’m also interested in how the full size Raptor shoots pellets. As you may or may not know, I’m always on the lookout for a replacement for my .30 Bobcat Mk2 for 100 yard competition. The problem is that the replacement needs to outshoot the incumbent and I haven’t found one yet...

I am not an official Factory Tester. I bought my Mini just like everybody else. However, I have a long rep. for testing ag's. Particularly with slugs.

Travis ask If I would mind putting it thru the ringer and openly tell what I find. Good Bad, indifferent. Well, that is what I do darned every day of the week. I normally shoot between 200 and 500 slugs a day. All of the top bullet swaggers, and casters know me and have had slugs tested by me.I I tell what I find, . Raptor or otherwise.

Just because you don't know me well on this forum personally, doesn't mean much to me. I have been around a "L" of a LOT longer tha this forum has existed . And the uppers here know me and my Reputation well.

I'm sure Haj, Steve S. and others will be more than glad to fill you in. I'm NO ***** for Anyone!.

The prices are on the web site. Simple really.

Just for some added reference- Knife is the one of the few guys on one of the other forums that has been brutally honest with every airgun. He's been shooting slugs longer than just about anybody and he kindled my interest in slugs. I live by wadcutter pesting at an easy 19 yards for most critters. I'd have gone with the Raptor (Mini) if the gun came with a tube, not a bottle, and was even more compact. I don't ever bench-shoot or use bipod, so instead I bought a Leshiy. But next time around, I'll get a Raptor and best of all, I'll save 10% cuz of that wonderful Veteran's discount. Yeah, for me it drops the price to $1000 before shipping. Certainly cheaper than a new Uragun.

I am right on the fence about these two rifles. Just why I thought I was going to put in my order for a raptor, I began to really start leaning towards the Uragan. Any advice on helping me decide which to get would be greatly appreciate!
uragan pros- it’s Vulcan relatives are tried and true, cost, instock and the reviews (in this forum) are demonstrating that they are a quality pcp.

uragan con- a post about some sort of possible regulator issue.

Raptor pros, made in USA,customer service, cool factor, lot of hype about the quality and expected proformance.

Raptor cons,12 week minimum delivery time, not a long track record yet

My opinion is probably worth what it cost you. I would buy the Uragan because its in production and Vulcans are tried and true. Sometime the Raptors may be a great gun! Information on what the final Raptor will be are not clear to me, as an example I read where one Raptor has a oring here and another persons says his doesn't. That is not a exact quote I am going by memory of what I have read. If you are the type of person that doesn't mind buying something to try and resell it if you are not satisfied it may be a good roll of the dice. I hope JSAR turns into a great company with the finest product. I guess someone had to gamble on Henry Fords first line of cars. Look at them now.
