A Crown would surely do, but there is more to consider. You need to figure out you're source of air, and which tank set up you want as well. When you consider all the ancillary items that are required to actually shoot the rifle, it starts adding up fast.

I recently bought my fist PCP rifle as well, a .25 Impact. I had been following the growth in PCP rifles over the last few years and was looking to get a Marauder to start off with. I ended up selling some other things and went straight for the Impact, as I felt it was the best rifle for my intended purpose. I absolutely love the Impact!

If if money is not an issue, I wouldn't hesitate to go straight for the Crown. On the other hand, if money is an issue, I would suggest buying an air tank and a low cost rifle to get shooting right now while you save for the Crown. A Marauder, Beeman QB Cheif or a Diana Stormrider would always be a nice rifle to plink with or carry in the woods even when the Crown is you're new king.

Well, that is the ultimate question. Right now, the Crowns are a hot item and really making a lot of great impressions. No exception with mine, either.
So... yeah, a Crown would be a good choice. An Impact might also fit the bill since it is a little easier to maneuver through the woods. But, I'd consider waiting until the "X" barrels are available for it.

RAW 1000X in .25 with a thumb hole walnut stock with the criteria being only one AG for hunting and target shooting. For hunting it produces over 55 fpe so squirrels to coyotes and everything in between is fair game.

For target shooting it will shoot sub MOA at 100 yards with over 50 shots per regulated fill, and is backyard friendly. 

I've had my RAW for close to 3 years with 1000s of shots through it without a hick-up. That means no magazine issues, no accuracy issues ,and no LEAKS. The action is silky smooth and built like a bank vault. 

It's appearance and fit and finish has stood the test of time along with its trouble free performance. Have to also mention it is made in the USA.

Mr_Ceo that question even refined to your usage intentions will get 50 guns. On this forum each of us shoot the best gun just ask each member. There are so many great PCP's out there and some of the most costly will not perform as good as a mid priced model. Read a lot and watch all the vids and you will come up with a favorite as we all have.

No total expert here, but it would seem to depend on intended usage. A static target or field target shooter will likely be very happy with the standard rifle configuration of a Crown, Streamline, Air Arms, rifle. If you're mostly hunting, and in the woods, maybe a bullpup would be nice. A standard format rifle isn't as useful when hunting in the heavy woods or brush - I can tell you that from personal experience. Hunting from a truck is another thing.

If I could only have one, and was intending to hunt, I'd consider one of the Ukrainians, standard size .22 or .25 Taipan Veteran. The trigger is sublime. Ernest Rowe can be heard to proclaim the triggers on the Taipans is the best design he has seen, the most adjustable, best layout.

I've got others, but the Taipans make you pretty much think only of them when you're hunting.

Gotta give a +1 here. If I had to pick one rifle format it would be a crown in blue laminate. Wish more guns were available in blue laminate as it's my favorite color.

But if going bullpup I'm all for the Taipans. Favorite guns out of many owned.

Right now choosing a Crown will enter you into the "Waiting Game" since the best guess for the next shipment is 2 to 3 months (everything from current shipment is spoken for already and then there is Tominco who has already ordered a "second" Crown while some of us are waiting 2 to 3 months still for our first :p ) so the second shipment pre-order is probably going to go fast too. If you are the impatient sort like myself then another choice of a more "mature product" which is adequately available should be considered.

But look at how looong the crown is if you extend the shroud to make it quiet. My Fx experience has me a little jaded on their perception of what quiet is. The Ukrainians - oh, pardon for repeating myself - are quiet enough with a short stock shroud (back me up on this Dillon!!) even in .25 and in .22 very quiet, but if you add a tiny, Donny Fl Fatboy, not the quietest either, really short and quiet.

Those Ukrainian girls are tough and rugged as well. I will never tell the story of mine, but lets just say I know of what I speak when I'm talking about toughness.

So ruggedness, if that counts, the Ukrainians are good. When you pull the Taipan trigger, there's no hammer slap that I hear, nothing but the air out of the LDC and the impact on the target. My Fx gun, not the top of the line, but it's good, makes a ton of firing noise.

So if one gun and hunting was the game, Veteran .25, specially if the larger critters. But Dillon can take over on this. I've only got the .22 and it's working quite fine. Called me biased.
