I’m talking for woods and hill walking. What’s the point at which you really want/need a lighter airgun? Does a sling change that weight? I’m looking to get a taipan Veteran at 7.4lbs unscoped and hope I can take the extra weight for the durability and accuracy of it. Probably 9lbs with a light scope on it.

If you use a sling and hunt with a tripod and chair as I do the weight is less of an issue but unscoped 8.5 lbs or less I think would be best.

Whatever weight you feel comfortable lugging around over the hills, through the woods to grandma's house. I like my prophet as it is compact, lightweight when fully scoped up and has plenty of shots so need for a buddy bottle.

The MOST weight you can comfortably carry. High power .25's JUMP when shot and lighter they are the more POA changes during said shot .... Reality.

Yes, the sling will work wonders when scouting about. I use a single point sling on my FX Impact in .25 and .30 caliber. The sling makes scouting about very doable.

well the lighter the better ... mainly if your hunting or offhand pesting the scope needs to work with the project at hand .. your 900$ 'vunderscope' thats 2 ft long 1000 power isnt going to be ideal trust me ... therrs no time to turn turrets and set up in the real world with adrenalin pumping ...

Sure thing. It is nothing fancy, just a single point sling off eBay and a cushioned clip-on strap I had laying around that is easy to put on or take off quickly. A very light sling setup that works well for me and was cheap.

Scott gets it. More weight, more stability. But not so much you can't hold it steady, or haul it.

My Wildcat .25 is a little over 8 lbs and it is my ideal woods walker. I also use a single point sling. I had one like Triggertreats, and found that after a few hunts, the hooks started eating in to the sling attachment point and metal shavings were dropping into the action on my Impact, so I switched to the quick release version.
