I won't Paypal FF Again & Will not request it.

Used Friends & Family for a purchase on here about ten days ago. Recieved tracking number about 3 days ago. ( slow, but things come up) The seller printed the label & it shows in the usps system that the label has been printed, but has not been scanned. Ok, it may show up, but if it does'nt I am out 215.00 plus PP fees.

My advice is do not use FF no matter who or what. As I know & you do too , you will have no protection. If I sell anything on here or anywhere else, I will no longer request FF it is not fair to the buyer.

I just gross up the GS so they end up getting what they asked for with FF. If they want $30, they get $30, but they do not get to decide for me which method I use in paypal to get the money to them. I use this to calculate how much I need to send so they get exactly what they are asking for.

Bottom line is never use FF unless they are truly FF. Oh and Western Union? Nope.

We have had some funny things with USPS but 100% when an individual who is at home is printing their own shipping labels… sometimes the label is printed a day or two before they actually get it in the mail. I also find that tracking isn’t greed… Especially not for basic level shipping i usually get a notice of shipment and occasionally I’ll be told that it’s out for delivery but sometimes the package shows up before I get the out for delivery notice.



Anyway glad it looks like things are working out for you there.

I have had many times a package delivered while tracking still show it at its original location, Their tracking system sucks, I have used PayPal f&f many many times “to many to count” never have had one issue, things sometimes slow shipping down , it may be an inconvenience but not as bad as the storms in the south, relax I realize this is 2021 and people think they should have instant gratification give it a few days. And if it arrives let’s see your reply to your initial topic

Oh I agree with a lot of what you said. But if usps gets a package and somehow does not get it recorded in their system, & the person does not ever recieve the package how would you recover your money, if you use FF. The seller shipped it, so they would not want to refund you & the shipping company would not have record of it, so they would not refund you either. I too have been lucky using FF. But to give my buyers more assurance I will never ask them for FF again.

Nothing gives a buyer more “peace of mind” than to talk to a seller if they’re spending a substantial amount of money. I am rather new here but have bought and sold probably in excess of fifty metal detectors over the years on forums. Wether buying or selling having a conversation with the other party gives both confidence in the transaction. My reputation is important to me. PayPal is a service that can be scammed and has been before so knowing who you’re dealing with is the best insurance.

USPS isn’t great and tracking sucks but pretty reliable still. FedEx and UPS seem to really destroy packages because they do a lot of freight and heavy boxes and UPS Priority mail does not allow super heavy items so things so show up in better shape in my experience. 


one interesting thing to consider is if you are sending something round like a tube for a barrel then try to add a section of square box so it does t roll around. I was told by the USPS employee that when it’s round the machine can’t scan it and also falls off the conveyer belt so it’s hand scanned and hand carried, this means it won’t show up in the system until it has reached destination USPS station. Sometime it will be delivered before it even shows USPS received it. 


USPS is good mostly and send square boxes that doesn’t roll around. 




I used FF because of the fee and with people that have little to no feed back so I don’t get scammed. Scamming goes both ways.

Save money? I would never do F&F .Pay Pal has Always came through for me as has USPS,......Fed Ex,ok UPS,full of baloney,still ok DSL great...

Over 2,000 things delivered with only one problem....butt got my money back....I do not think I am lucky ,ok maybe...You could say I have a lot of good experience,my opinion is the companies are doing what they are supposed to do and the sellers and buyers have enough experience to do shipping and buying the right way.

It is always a good idea do know who you are dealing with and have a recourse if something happens...as above poster said.

I figure Family and Friends is for (you guessed it) "FAMILY" and "FRIENDS". I guess that's why they call it ... no, I won't do that to you guys again.

I would not ever ask someone to pay me F&F. I've sold several thousand dollars of small items printed on my 3d printers over the past few years and never asked anyone to trust me that much. Sure I could have saved a small percentage, but I can figure that into the price in the first place. I did get through elementary school before I decided I knew everything there was to know about everything there is to know about... :) No false humility in my family.

For the reasons listed above, I wouldn't pay someone via that method either UNLESS they were "family" or a true "friend". I'd rather jack up the price enough to cover the cost to him. If he doesn't want to take that route, well maybe I should not trust him?

Just so you know the online tracking for the post office does lag but if you really want to know where your package is then go to the post office and have them do tracking on THEIR internal system and it is much more accurate and updated. I have found this to be the case with anything that I wanted to know accurate status on as I am always there anyway.

I've been using PayPal for well over 20 years now and have never had a problem when using Good and Services. Not to start an argument, but is clearly against the PayPal TOS to use FF for purchases. But you can't change someone who insists on doing things a certain way so in my sales ads I just say PayPal G&S preferred - but people are going to do what they want to regardless. 

Thing I would say is there was a thread not more than a year ago which talked about PayPal not covering guns and airguns under G&S any longer so that kinda made things a moot point.

Honestly, have used friends and family for every transaction I have done on this forum. I check out the seller or buyer extensively before hand, and don’t do business with those that have no positive feedback. I haven’t had a bad experience yet. I will gladly do it again. 
do you’re research on who you’re buying from, and it shouldn’t be a problem.
